Are you kidding? Most girls I know hate their dads. I mean my sister, my GV, my GF's friends. I can't think of a single girl that likes their father.
As for if a girl is close to their dad, I would say it shouldn't be to hard to get to know the girl, since you only need to get to know the dad. DON'T BE AFRAID OF THEM! THEY DON'T BITE, at least not to hard.

Actually, my dad would say the same thing but probably smaked any guy that came up to him and said it themselves. Especially if you say it the same way.
I don't think a girl can ever be too close to her dad. If I had the opportunity to be really close to mine--I surely wouldn't miss it. I'm very envious of girls who have that close relationship.

LoL, that isn't something you tell a girls father. That is how you get shot :P. I was actually threatened with a shotgun once. And I didn't even say something like that. He was just a really protective guy. He had his Mossberg 12Gauge out cleaning it and said, real calm like, that If I ever mistreated her he'd shoot me. Of course then his daughter left me for a fling with my best friend. Where's my protection???

I'm a daddy's girl and there is nothing wrong with having a close relationship with your parents; although, there is a point where being too close can be a problem and unhealthy for the family dynamic, but that can happen with any relationship between two people in a family, not just fathers and daughters.

Aaah so that's where the phrase anal retentive comes from. Good to know. I didn't think that castration anxieties were ever directed towards the father. I was always under the impression that they were directed to the mother, either because she serves as a frightful image of what it's like to be castrated or because she takes up the role of the aggressive, non-phallic castrator.

Dad's tend to be very careful with their daughters dating because they know what guys want, so naturally they don't want their daughter getting into those kinds of things. :P
Notice most (not all...but most) girls on this thread are extremely proud to be close to their dad....while only some male posters are able to question or think it's strange, even though I realize some of the guys here don't find anything wrong with it either.
But most girls here aren't able to understand what I'm talking about, because they are really, really proud to be with their dad.
I think it's hard to get to know a girl who is close to their dad because since they will be going out on "dates" with their dad, they will have less time to spend with you. And everything has to be approved by her dad, including you. So even if the girl likes you, if the dad doesn't like you it's over basically.
Honestly, I find it a big plus if a girl has good parents that she has a good relationship with. I value family alot myself and I think good parents can sadly be hard to come-by but when they are there they can have tons of great influence on their child.
I also am a guy parents would like to see their daughter dating (nice guy, caring, not just going to be in it for sex, stable) so I don't fear having to meet the parents. I actually have a female friend of mines parents wanting me to date their daughter, lol.
