Do you think that Skydance will sell the rights to the Terminator franchise?

After the last one bombed it's obvious that they won't make any more Terminator movies. Since they have no need for the franchise anymore, do you think that they might sell it to another studio? Maybe said studio could try their luck at Terminator but at a smaller scale like releasing on of the many streaming services or something. Then again there is the unfortunate but very real chance that no one wants the Terminator franchise. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question I know nothing about moviemaking and film rights ownership, I'm just curious.

Nope. Intellectual property has value, no matter its recent performance. IP holders very, very rarely ever sell their IP wholesale without retaining at least some level of ownership or control.

I'd say it would be more likely they'll just hold on to it, then license it to anyone willing enough to take another crack at adapting it - and willing enough to bring along a decent stack of cash up front. Probably Netflix. The IP holder could also get acquired by another company. Probably Disney.

@madrocketeer: I would like to see what Netflix or Amazon could do with it.

@mrbojangles25: @madrocketeer: Have both of you ever watch Fox Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicle TV series? I imagine if Netflix or Amazon get it, I would expect Sarah Conner Chronicle get a second chance cause that show was so good, it puts Dark Fate to shame.

Yup. It was pretty good. And considering how Season 2 ended, it would be nice to see a continuation. I don't like unresolved plots.

Sadly, they might have to do a wholesale recast, or come up with some contrivance to explain why everyone's all suddenly ten years older - and why Sarah Connor suddenly looks like she's about to f*** her brother and sip wine while watching a church full of people explode. That, or they'll have to do a reboot or something else entirely, and it just wouldn't be the same.
