Do you think that videogames are the cause of bad grades?

I have a research project I'm working on and I'd really appreciate it if you could answer the poll and if I could get your honest feedback on some of these questions on a scale of 1-10.

1) Approximately how much time do you spend playing videogames a day(1=very little, 10= way too much for my own good)

2)How many hours a day do you dedicate to studying (1= too few, 10= I barely have time for any gaming)

3)How are your grades(1= low F, 5= C 10=A)

4) How serious are you in your academic career (1=not serious, 10=extremely serious)

5) What's your level of self control over gaming (1= can't stop playing, 10= I can go without gaming for weeks)

1.) 4...i play more than most my friends but i odnt like play at all during the weekdays cus of h.w and i nap usualy

2.) 6....i study when i gotta and do h/w when i gotta...i am a procrastonator with school work but i still maintain above a 3.0

3.)8.......idk i have a 3.27 right now so yeah i got some A's and i got some B's and i even got 1 C

4.)8....i know a kid whos a 10 and i kno im nothin like him....but i am serious non the less

Yea, they do. I was braiding this girl's hair one day (thought I'd get some :P), and it was hard to braid her hair while beating up Wario in Super Mario Land 2. She got pissed and didn't want to be near me for days :P.Video_Game_King

This is a rediculous question (no offense intended.) It's the same as obese people blaming Mc'Donalds for them being fat. If an individual lacks self control and a work ethic, you can't blame video games. Someone who has a D because he/she doesn't study due to gaming, the same person will hold the same grade if you take games away, they will just find another distraction. RiSkyBiZ-13

True, but i've designed the questions so that I can tell how much people game and how much people study. Obviously, people do other things that could be worse to their grades than videogames (like drugs, or whatever) but for all practical purposes, I'm just trying to focus on one aspect. Let's also not turn this post into an argument, I simply need information to do a project and the quicker I finish, the quicker i can return to my games!

Videogames don't cause bad grades.

Laziness and lack of discipline (and sometimes purestupidity) cause bad grades.

End of story.

I mean, if you flunk out of recess because you can't put down the games, that's not exactly the game's fault, is it?

8 - about 2-3 hrs weekdays, 3-4 weekends.

2)How many hours a day do you dedicate to studying (1= too few, 10= I barely have time for any gaming)

2 - i get homework done but thats it.

3)How are your grades(1= low F, 5= C 10=A)

8 - 2 As 2 Bs. one A is an honors c!ass one B is an honors c!ass the other A is in a regular c!ass (im 2 5teps ahead of the norm though) and the other B is in an elective.

4) How serious are you in your academic career (1=not serious, 10=extremely serious)

6 - i put effort to get good grade so i can get a good job but im not one of those nitpicking *****ts who would ****h over one bad grade. im pretty careless too. (dont fire me for this!)

5 - i can control myself but if i do i usually feel awkward.
