I believe they can be if they will DO IT RIGHT. Not going back to see how it all started. 2 set of directors had to completely destroy these movies that fans have been wanting to come out forever. It all should have started in Space and that's where it should have stayed. Just like the games and the comics, in space is where it belonged. Marines, Predators and Aliens clashing. That's my opinion, what is yours?

Well, Ridley Scott is directing another Alien movie, and Robert Rodriguez is directing another Predator movie. So...we'll see.
But I have my doubts. Rodriguez's "Predators" (essentially Predator 3) probably has a better chance of reviving that franchise, since I've always thought that the Predator movies were sort of cheesy anyway. Yes, yes, I know. Predator was a classic, and was 100% awesome. Still, as awesome as it was, there was a certain level of cheese in that movie that works in the favor of future movies in the series.
But Scott's Alien movie is another matter. First off, it's a prequel to Alien. Which is sketchy enough. Why there's any need for an Alien Prequel is anyone's guess. But I just don't see it telling any story that needs to be told. It's not going to be advancing the story forward, it's wallowing in the past. Furthermore, this runs the risk of the Alien Prequel answering questions that have no business being answered. Questions that could ruin the entire "mythology" of the series. And since it's being handled by the director of the original Alien, expectations are going to be so high that it will likely fail to deliver. I'm remaining hopefully optimistic about this movie ONLY because Ridley Scott is directing it, but a part of me thinks that it will likely be the movie to kill off the Alien franchise once and for all. If Ridley Scott can't save the franchise, then it's better off being left dead. If this movie flops, then I hope that no one even ATTEMPTS to make another Alien movie. Because the glory days have been gone for more than 20 years now. Why people are even still bothering with Aliens, I don't know. But if this movie flops, then everyone needs to stop disturbing the corpse of the Alien series, and let this thing rest in peace.
