That's a bit old I think. I heard about that story a while back. Still pretty pathetic that he would jeopardize his job for a porn star. You'd think her bad acting would make it clear to him she really doesn't have an interest in him. Must've been a lonely officer...But no, I don't think he should have lost his job. He should have been suspended, and required to take law enforcement courses again to reinforce the code of conduct. I mean, he didn't do anything that bad, they'll need every officer out there as much as possible.
Depends on how you look at it. I see it as a cop who does what most cops do at one point in their career: screw up and let someone off the hook for either just being a friend of the cop, or bribing the cop. They all do it at least once, it's pretty common. I think he should've been suspended, but not actually fired. The only difference between this cop and his actions and other cops and their actions is that this guy got caught.
It'd be worse if he was tampering with evidence, or covering up a murder or something, but letting a porn star get away without any ticket or anything in exchange for some "lovin' " seems like a minor corruption.
