Oh please, this human self depreciating crap is on a great rise, **** the nature. I'm man, and until you put me down I'm going onwhere, I'm gonna pollute, eat these animals, your fruits and vegetables until I die, them some other fool is gonn take my place and do the same.
It may be better off with humans, but since if there were no humans there'd be no me I don't care in the least that it would be better. Survival of the fittest ftw!

Thats like saying would the Earth be better off without life on it period. Every species is destructive whether you realize that or not.
What's the point of this question? Of course our survival and growth has a negative effect on the Earth as it would exist without us. But we're here and unless you hate mankind, I just don't see the point.

It's not about just the Earth itself. The question is if the magnatude of destruction that humans bring towrards all the life on Earth are worth any "benefits" we provide to the ecosystem.
They are not self destructive. All other forms of life have a balancewith nature that isn't anything like what we do. Saying otherwise is a lie.Thats like saying would the Earth be better off without life on it period. Every species is destructive whether you realize that or not.

Again, I'm asking if we are doing more harm to the ecosystem on Earth than we are benefiting it. It's not about the "Planet" itself. I should have worded it better. What's the point of this question? every species but us would be 99% more likely better off without humans on this earth. we have not contributed anything positive to any other species, only cut down forests and polluted the earth and caused species to go extinct , not to mention all the garbage we dump into the oceans. tormentor313

That is where the debate begins.
Even the forest fires that we stop are in a way harmful. Because we try not to let them get big or stop them altogether the tree end up getting more underbrush and in a way more fuel for a even bigger fire. Things are not going to change and i for one would not choose to live without electricity or combustion engines.
It would be awesome for a little while to see the world without human influence but things would be alot tougher. In the Tom Clancy book "Rainbow Six", there is a group of people that actually plan on destroying the entire human race to restore the earth back to the way it was and only a select few thousand would live to see it.

[QUOTE="Teenaged"]I am kinda weirded out by this response for a few reasons.... Why?I dont know; I guess its the wording.[QUOTE="fidosim"]No. In fact the whole concept is absurd. Humans decide what is "good" and "bad", the concepts don't exist without us. fidosim
You are a Christian, right?
Once again I ask what's the point? Is this supposed to make people come to conclusion that humans should either die or get rid of technology and begin to live again like humans did 1000-2000 years ago?
This humans/man is evil crap annoys me.
I don't think anyone is saying that. Just that we are similar to parasites and crap on mother nature. I promise you people won't be trying to live like we did before the industrial revolution and cast out our technology or Earth hatin' ways.Once again I ask what's the point? I'd say I am, i'm not particularly devout though.Oh ok. Its just that, your wording doesnt really go in harmony with Christianity. Especially since to me your wording implies moral nihilism or at least moral relativism. You kinda made humans the parametre of good and evil while for Christianity (and most religions in general) morality is beyond humans.Anyway I am not starting a debate. I was genuinely just weirded out. Thats all. :)
Even 150yrs ago the best we had was maybe the steam engine and gun powder. Just over 100yrs ago the Wright Brothers flew for the first time and 40yrs ago we were on the moon. In another 20 we could have a colony on the moon or even have people on Mars. Really what we need is more technology such has higher capacity batteries that are lighter weight and more effiecient solar panels and perhaps more Nuclear Power Plants.Once again I ask what's the point? Is this supposed to make people come to conclusion that humans should either die or get rid of technology and begin to live again like humans did 1000-2000 years ago?

1. This is a forum for debate, asking "what is the point" applies for all topics on this site for they serve no world-changing purpose. 2. I am not saying man is evil, only presenting a question. 3. You sound offended.I dont think that the only two options is either we die or we get rid of technology.Once again I ask what's the point? And the OP doesnt imply that humans are evil in general. I didnt reach that conclusion anyway.

Well, sorry I weirded you out. But I don't think Christianity would claim that humans are somehow detrimental to nature either, since the Earth is something that is meant to be cultivated by humans.I don't think anyone is saying that. Just that we are similar to parasites and crap on mother nature. I promise you people won't be trying to live like we did before the industrial revolution and cast out our technology or Earth hatin' ways. Technically everything is a parasite lol. Even plants herbivores technically are since they eat plants and then the plants also take nutrients out of the earth. Humans just take a little more than fair or needed for the most part.[QUOTE="darktx2005"]

Would those animals even have been born without humans? Either way, I think animals enjoy freedom more-so than being confined :P.[QUOTE="darktx2005"]

Thank you Teenaged. I was not trying to imply nor did I say that humans were evil. I'm just trying to start a debate.Once again I ask what's the point? You didn't specifically say that, but some of the responses read to that conclusion unless they weren't being serious.if we all disappered today, the earth would be back to normal in 200 years

yea i saw the national geographic show Population Zero: Aftermath.
pretty interesting how quickly the planet can get rid of pretty much every harmful substance we humans have created. and also make it seem like we never existed. just a pure planet inhabited by animals, even endangered animals would thrive and live.

not necessarily. their natural instincts would kick in, and they would find a way to survive

Well, if it were other peoples' responses that got you annoyed, I still didn't like how you attacked my question :( I just want a healthy debate between people who believe we are bad, and people who believe we are good. I am staying out of the debate, as it is far more interesting to watch from the sidelines :P I have no hard feelings though man.[QUOTE="tormentor313"]every species but us would be 99% more likely better off without humans on this earth. we have not contributed anything positive to any other species, only cut down forests and polluted the earth and caused species to go extinct , not to mention all the garbage we dump into the oceans. Without humans there would be no "developement" of domesticated animals from non-domesticated animals. So the non-existant domesticated animals would have virtually nothing to be afraid of.Please Log In to post.
