Do you think if the government takes 10% more off your paycheck (more for the richer people) for Free health care you would like it? Do you tihnk they shoudl do this, or do you think its cheaper to buy a healthcare that doesnt have 100% full coverage. Unlike the US plan for 100% Free coverage (includes pills, injections, exams, operations etc.)

I'm Kinda conflicted... I'm all for the government taking money out of my check for health care but... the thought of some lazy ass with 20 kids taking that money pisses me off.

10% is way too much, concidering many can get full coverage for much less. Tax should be 2%-5% with another 5% for corporations (since they would no longer have to pay their share anyway). If they could make something like this work, it wouldn't cost the people or the companies any more than they are already paying (and that's not concidering that health insurance would no longer be for proffit, so expenses should fall if the government couled actually manage it). Someone making $60,000 a year should not have to pay $500 a month for insurrance -- that is plain crazy. Having said that, everybody should have the right to healthcare.

If we have to pay the taxes which, in turn, pay for the health care is it really free?

Not according to several people within the Obama administration considering they said when asked if they would raise taxes for the middle class, they said they would do whatever is necessary to not turn it into a deficit.

I definetly wouldnt want that since im usually never sick enough to even go to a doctor. Now for those that are older or chronically ill they should be able to opt into it for that much i guess.

The entire idea they have is totally bogus. I get full coverage and even dental for $42 a month. I end up paying more into FICA and FICA2 (social security and medicare, respectively) than I do for my OWN health care. Totally bogus.

There need to be more tiny little taxes set into special accounts so that when something goes awry, the money is there when you need it.

No they should just give it to people who cant afford it. One thing I learned that is interesting is that about 12 million of the 30 million people who don't have insurance can afford it but don't get it for one reason or another.

And I imagine your employer pays the vast majority of your bills. How about deductibles? Have you ever had to use it for something expensive enough that the insurance company would prefer not to pay you and look for a loophole in your agreement to that effect?

If you were going it alone, you'd pay a heck of a lot more than $42/month. Medical alone is thousands of dollars a year for a single person, and thousands more for a family. I'm not sure we want to live in a society where people are essentially forced to work for corporations because they need the health coverage. It puts an enormous damper on entrepreneurs, and it would be death for a lot of jobs that do not have a corporate basis.

If it was 10%, hell yes. Now as a single person this may not be a great trade off, for a family it would be a savings in most cases. I would possibly make out better if it included everything, no out of pocket expenses.

Oh it is. The only way that they can get this to pass is if they "promise" that they won't take away private insurance. They know that no one can compete against them though, so eventually, we will get a single-payer system. Obama has stated himself that he's a believer in a single-payer system. But now he's just playing politics.

it sounds easy to say no if you have health care but there are thousands of people who cant afford it and die in emergency rooms because they have no insurance. I wouldn't mind 5% more if it means that everyone gets good healthcare.

People die on waiting lists and from rationing in socialized healthcare. That point is moot. There already is a TON of government involvement in healthcare. Sorry, I don't want them to completely take it over. I want them to get the hell out.

Well, no, not really. Germany, a country that has had universal health care since the 19th century, has both public and private heatlh care available, and the private health insurers are still around, and they probably aren't going to go anywhere for a while.

WIthout government involvement the health care system would be a complete mess. Most Americans receive health care through their employer, and the government (oooh scary) makes it so that your employer cannot deny coverage because of a pre-existing condition or have you miss out on benefits because you are a higher paid employee. If it weren't for the government, people would be dealing with the chaos that is commonly found in the individual health care insurance market.

Well, before you jump to conclusions, the healthcare is only free if I go to her hospital. If I get sick anywhere else in the country then I/we have pay for it through insurance/out of pocket. They can take 10% out of my paycheck, but only if there are guidelines as to what universal healthcare covers. I don't want to be paying for some douchebag who, through his own free will, decided to drive drunk and break half of his body in a crash.

Many policies still have pre-exisitng condition clauses, though the pre-existing condition clause in the policy I had last year was only in effect for the first six months.
