i mean, do you seem to resent more shows than like them? i certainly do. most things are pure garbage, especially children's programming. iCarly, the new Spongebobs, all of Cartoon Network, just about everything. and if its not kids programming its some stupid crap, like MTV. and lifetime is kind of disturbing, all the movies they show on sundays. and mostcomedy shows are horrible.just about everything meant for entertainment is plain stupid and crappy on TV. but i do like History Channel.

but overall i really think it has become Anti-Entertainment, since i get the notion that they strive to make shows that i couldn't bring myself to laugh at. i can't even see the writers being proud of their own work.

Just because you don't like a show doesn't mean someone else won't.

Then don't watch MTV and Lifetime since those channels suck. There are plenty of great TV shows out there...including sitcoms. If you want smarter sitcoms, watch 30 Rock or The Office.

"Anti-entertainment"? What does that even mean? Networks need to fill 24 hours in the day, if they need to push crap, they do what they've got to do to stay on the air. Considering there are like thousands of channels now, it's no wonder that the ratio of good stuff on TV seems skewed.

the new spongebob is awesome =/ i still laugh... anyway its not entertaining to you cuz youre probably too old for it too, you have to move on, and if ITS ALL BORING TO YOU just stop watching it, they have those shows because tons of people want them and almost need them, they wont stop with their programing i dont like tv anymore, i never watch it, except sometimes when theres cool movies or when the internet is down (stupid phone company) and its all cool

Not since Jersey Shore premiered. That has renewed my faith in not only entertainment, but humanity in general.

Well I find myself watching less and less tv these days. I used to watch 3-4 hours of it when I was in school. Now I find myself watching stuff like Mythbusters, Dirtyjobs, History Channel specials and the occasional sports game. Probably 3-4 hours of tv a week.

I don't like your sig. As for your statement there are good and bad shows depending on your tastes.

Well there are a lot of really dumb shows out their, and I only actually take the time to watch a handful - Monk, The Office, Robot Chicken, Whos Line is it Anyway and a few others. History Channel is good too. So I certainly get what your saying but TV is really a mixed bag and you certainly couldn't label the whole lot anti-entertainment.

sitcoms from preteens (iCarly) and idiots (Jersey Shore) aren't all that's on TV.

The only things I watch on TV these days is Jay Leno, Conan O' Brien, Simpsons and Adult Swim.

Everything else I don't really care about.

I agree with MTV, they have completely fell off in every way. All of their ridiculous programs are just crack for brainwashed teenagers. Lifetime, however, I think has actually gotten better. I don't see as much of the "woman gets beaten by typical chauvinist man" plot anymore, which is a good sign.

Of course, all TV is really just entertaining brainwash.

The channels and programs you've named versus what's out there do little to support your argument.

If you don't like the shows on TV, then why watch it at all? There are plenty of other things to do.

TV shows always have represented different age groups. Nickelodeon is for kids 5-12. The CW is 13-18. ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC are 15+. Showtime, Starz and HBO are really shows for adults. Now, these are just what I think the age groups are but I know that these are pretty close to the actual numbers. If your not in that age group, I really can't see anyone that is 20 would like iCarly, but completely understand why little kids would. It caters to them. Which is why we have that range from all age groups.

I watch all of my fav shows on Hulu now. It's nice only having to sit through a 30 second commercial rather than 5 mins of commercials.

TV has to cater to everyone these days. A lot of people who say TV is getting worse are those who are used to four channels. But most of the channels seem to be spewing out the same crap which ruins that argument. There is way too much reality TV and way too many channels commissioning them but if you look for it, you can find loads of great shows like Dexter, Misfits (in the UK) and Supernatural.

I wouldn't say TV is the "anti-entertainment." The audience is.

I don't watch TV anymore, but I heard there are still good programming on it. You just have to sift through a crapload of reality shows to get to it.

There's a lot of good channels and programmes on TV but most of it's crap...plus all the crappy adverts.

US TV has taken a noise dive this decade. I believe the reason is they became less about telling a story, and more about ratings. Tv shows in other nations like Japan (anime) and England (fantasy/SciFi shows like Doctor Who) are still pretty good.

There are 80 kabillion channels out there. I'm sure you can find one you like.
