Seriously, I don't think they are united. They have different laws in each states and different ways. Why is it called the United States of American, when they don't seem to unit.

Takes wars for example. South Dakota just dosen't decide to sit out the Iraq War because it feels like it.

Yes I do. There is a central government. When the country was formed, the states were far more individualistic, but they united for a common cause. That doesn't mean that everyone acts the same, just that there is a common theme.

I wouldn't say so. The political disagreements split the nation up quite a lot. And worst of all, we have the whole election system supporting political parties, which just leads to corruption in politics to give the population more to disagree on.

The United States has always had trouble uniting ever since the civil war, and the 9/11 incident worsened that. All this nation wants is power, and will stop at nothing to get it. Our government already attacked our own people on 9/11, and now we are over in the middle east killing innocent bystanders because they didn't give us free oil. There is becoming more and more friction in this nation everyday, and the only way to stop it is if the American people all unite and set aside their differences and rebuild this nation the way our Forefathers meant for it to be.

Short answer: No :P.

Hundreds of countries run off democracy's just like ours. They have States/Provinces/Territories, most that have different laws. Look at Tibet in China. They dont look very United, yet Tibet is technically part of The Peoples Republic of China.

Wait wat? Did you just say we attacked our own people on 9/11? Oh, I get it now. You're a conspiracy theorist. I think you're opinion has just been invalidated.

Ever since the Civil War we've been united. Some state laws differ from eachother but more or less each state follows the same rules.

Please, expand on this thought. And don't use the erroneous claim that the war was for oil.

But it was for oil :?.

Anyways, the first war the states ever fought in was a war for power over England's rule. The United States actually wanted power so much that we fought EACH OTHER in the civil war. The south didn't like the way the north wanted to monopolize the nation, and the north hated that the south was trying to secede, so war ensued. I would go on and mention The Great War and WWII, but I am already getting enough strange looks for tonight ;).

The low number of death squads would seem to be a positive.

So your example are

1. We break away from persecution from England.

and

2. We stop half our country from seceding?

Those don't seem particularly bloodthirsty american power grabs to me.

That's just iraq and lebanon, most other countries in the region are dominated by sunnies.

This division is also overrated considering most muslims don't feel divided over this petty issue. It'd be like a difference between baptists and evangelicals.

They aren't. I am just saying why I feel the United States isn't really United. I guess I hit submit before I had time to think about what I was typing because I truly believe most of the wars we fought (including the revolutionary and civil war) were necessary. I am just pointing out that we are not a perfectly happy United family that our name would suggest.
