I tip when a guy delivers pizza at the door, yep. I've never been in the second situation, and I've never tipped a hairdresser.

It depends on my mood, and the service provided, to be honest.

If I do, I dont tip much.

I just try to tip by rounding up the number of the bill.

If its 8,30 I tell him to keep 9. And so on.

Yeah I am so generous. :P

But really I am just a student.

Yes, in all those situations. I have sympathy for those with terrible jobs (having been there myself for many years) and believe we should try to help our fellow man (or woman) as much as we are able to.

Depending on where you work being a Hairdresser isn't a terrible job.

My dad's girlfriend is a Hairdresser (stylist, whatever you want to call it) and she makes enough that she takes off every Friday just because she can.

Yeah, always tip just out of goodness. If I was providing a service where I got low base pay and most of my money came from tips I would always appreciate it. We just got back from the local Chinese buffet, wound up spending around $45 for all of us and we tipped $5. I always like to give good tips to hair dressers too.

You are correct...some make a ton of money...know one that makes >90,000 But I get my haircut at the cheap places...so they are crappy jobs with poor pay...I have asked...plus they cut my hair

As a former pizza delivery driver, let me give you guys some tips.... The highest tippers get their order faster and fresher than the lowest tippers. We knew who tipped and who didn't, and we'd go out of our way to make sure the people who paid us remained satisfied customers.

If you order alot and never tip, well, let's just say that I'd stop ordering If I were you.

Force of habit, unfortunately, regardless of how great the service actually was I always cringe at the thought of the pizza guy spitting in my food if I don't tip.

Usually in cases like pizza delivery, or haircuts my tips consist of whatever the change is. So usually its around 4 or 5 dollars.

soulwithin465
Depending on where you live and the job they may not get paid much and tips are supposed to counteract that.

Yeah. Employers purposely pay their employees low wages sometimes if tips are involved. You really didn't know that?

What? That's horrible! Then again I live where tipping is considered disrespectful...so I guess I see it differently..but still I find it kinda unfair that people would have lower wages just because tips come as part of their pay.

Because some jobs get paid below minimum wage and rely on tips to make it a more livable wage.

And in reality, if the employees were paid more, the prices would go up.
