Yes, because it's closely moderated. And, if you find something you don't believe, they always have citations that you can double-check up on.

Yes, except perhaps for highly "controversial" subjects.

Yeah everyone is like "ZOMG?!?! Wikipedia is full of lies...LIES I tell you, LIES!", but seriously it is not that bad. It is moderated daily and most people like to be right rather than wrong believe it or not.

Yes, I remember the georgebush article to just have a picture of him with the word ''poop'' on the description, the next day it was back to normal.

I trust it for what it is: a quick, accessible source of information that is very good considering its authors are composed of, well, almost anybody.

Yeah, it's very moderated. False information is gone just like that. And besides, it's never proven wrong after all this time for me, not once.

I do use it for personal research but rarely for anything especially important or controversial. Ever since I read the news article about companies manipulating articles I'm becoming increasingly wary. However, for philosophical questions I have or basic research its my number one source.

Most of the time.

Yesterday, I was reading about Harry S. Truman. I went to the page on Franklin D. Roosevelt, then went back to the Truman page. Someone had taken down the entire page, and wrote Hitler is god" in it's place. It was changed in only a matter of seconds.

Depends. If I'm searching for a band, tv show, or something with a strong fan-base I'm fine with it. For everyjackass who would vandalise it, there's ten fans that'd fix it. It's not like I'd use it on a school paper, though.

I've never seen anything that wasn't accurate on it. Most people have better things to do then mess with a website like wiki. I've found it to be very helpful.

Yea, I trust it most times. It's also been shown that actual enclyclopedias have shown errors too but editors and publishers are very hesitant to admit to the errors because... well... they'd have to reprint. However, with Wiki, any inaccuracy is easy to change.

And yeah, it's closely moderated, hopefully, the moderators know what they're doing ~ or which is good info and which is BS.

I trust it. The editors are very good on that site - especially on current events. I do remember once the new pope's picture kept on being vandalized and replaced with Darth Sidius. That was hilarious.

But it was always promptly fixed.

about as much as a trust any other source. Also the nice thing about wikipedia is you can look at it's edit history. If you can't evaluate validity from that you probably shouldn't be writing about the subject.

...There can be inconsistancies in more contraversial subjects (usually if vandalism starts they just lock the subject), but 98% of it is true, and backed up by citations, and lot of discussion in the "discussion" pages...

Usually. I pay close attention to whether or not there are references and take caution when the "This article does not cite its sources" box appears. Their moderators tend to remove vandalism or mark unreferenced material rather quickly.
