I was talking to a friend earlier today and she just got engaged a few days ago. She told me that she doesn't want to have children because she hates them but her fiancee wants to have children. She then proceeded to ask me if I wanted children and I want children but not anytime soon. I think I would be so scared of raising my own kid. So childrenless people of OT, do you want children sometime in the future

Why can't us non-single folks answer? :( I don't want kids...Maybe in like 5 years, but I like my personal freedom and having a kid seems like a helluva lot of work

Yeah, I'd like to have one or two, genetic or adopted. A lot of my friends say the same stuff though that they don't want kids because they're too much trouble and stuff. To be honest, it just says a tad about how some people resent responsibility... and child birth....

I love children for some reason. I lose my mind if I don't hear one crying baby in the house I love them and love raising them. Hopefully the stuff i learned from raising all my cousins and brothers will pay off when I hopefully get my own. :P

I know what he means. Or at least I think I do. Other peoples kids annoy the crap out of me, but the thought of raising my own sounds great. Mainly so I can raise them not to be as annoying as those other peoples kids. And as I had an awesome childhood I'd really like to be responsible for giving someone else an even better one

The idea feels different if it's my own. So it would go more like this: "Would you like some chocolate?" "Nah, I'd rather eat the chocolate I made myself."

I think I'm missing a motherly instinct gene or something. The idea of physically having a kid grosses me out and I'm uninterested in adoption. I'm really selfish anyway and don't want to spend time or money on raising something. Maybe if the whole pregnancy and birthing process was easier I'd be more inclined.

I think the reason why some people think the birthing process is painful, is because people usually give birth in the hospital; the whole atmosphere is traumatic and unhealthy, especially for the baby. I heard water births aren't nearly as painful. And yes, I want kids.

Eh I guess it's hit or miss. You're either a natural parent or a un-kid-friendly (sp?) person.

Love =/= successful marriage -it is one component (an important one at that)...but just one piece -you must be friends -you must agree on the MAJOR issues...or be able to 'agree to disagree' Most marriages fail b/c people think love is all you need...think about how many times people fall in love...most couples fall in and out of love several times in a marriage There are just some things that prohibit a successful marriage...things that cause resentment -this is not an issue that can be compromised on -I have NEVER seen one successful marriage personally or in a study where the participants differed on this issue...ever

Honestly from what I've heard it's usually at least somewhat painful no matter what the circumstances are. I'm not sure how giving birth in water would make it less painful or stressful. And in the interest of safety I'd much rather be in a hospital where there are people who can save the baby or I should something go wrong (not that you can't do water births in a hospital- I just usually picture them being done elsewhere). Plus some women just can't deliver naturally.

Um, I remember you had mentioned that you have gone through the proceedure that now its impossible for you to impregnate a woman during sex.

If I may ask... now you dont produce sperm at all? I mean could artificial insemination be possible or nada?

I still make them...butthey are 'cut off' from my body...the pipes are cut and burned shut -liquid still comes out, but there is nothing to it -'they' are just reabsorbed by my body atm -the doctor said that eventually my body will begin to create sperm anti-bodies to kill them all So I guess I have a limited window where they could go in and take some out (before my body begins killing them off) -though this could have already happened...been almost 2 years since the operation

Adopt a few ? How many kids do you want ? I hope you don't say 6 because that would suck. If I had 6 kids I would pack up my stuff and leave.

Not really, but I figure I owe it to the species.
