ok, recently, my parents decided to give me a checking account.  Every month they deposit 50$ into the account for clothes and schoolsupplies.  any of your parents do this?

teaches you to manage money i think.

no i dont get money from my parents.  that really teaches you how to manage your money

they do buy my clothes though.  but i only get clothes twice a year rly and school supplies once a year.  yeah u guessed it im 14 lol

No, not really. Whenever I need money they'll give it to me and just deduct it from the money I have saved up in my account, but I don't think they really do deduct the money. They want me to always have money incase I need it in an emergency situation. I don't usually spend money, however. I just go to movies, eat out and hang out with my friends. If I buy something big, I just put it on my credit card. But when I am in college my parents put like $10,000-$20,000 worth of money on my student card for my personal use, but I used it for hanging out with my friends, girls, buying booze, seeing movies and eating out or ordering out. It was fun, but I got a little too carried away and forgot about my studies for my first semester of college and that was a mistake I fell into.

Well, considering I'm 14, and I've tried to get a job, (nobody wants you till your 15-16 :( ) P.S. I'm not getting a Lexus as my first car, I'll be lucky if my mom buys me a moped...

i dont get paid at all.....i mean they say this "how are you going to pay us back for livinh in our house and all the food you eat ect." but my parents buy be anything i want if i can give a good explaination...like movies (dont want me to be on computer too much)

only bad thing is parents really won't let me spend it on anything other than clothes, and school, so it kinda defeats the purpose...i have enought for a 360 just sitting in there tempting me......:(

I have had a checking account for around 6 or so years now and they give me money too, but its not really a set amount. Like if I need or want something and if they are alright with it either my mom or my dad will transfer some money or just give me actual cash. I dunno, I really dont manage money too much since I dont spend a lot at all. Its usually 5 bucks a week for a movie or going out for wings, and then maybe once every 3 months I get a game.

Same. My parents always got me what I needed but they very rarely, if ever, just bought me random things that I didn't need. My brother and me had to buy all our video games and stuff like that.
