So what do you guys think about Peter Capaldis performance as the new Doctor?
1)Do you like this Doctor?
2) Why or why not?
It would be interesting to know the thoughts of some Doctor Who fans.

He has been fantastic. I think anyone who says otherwise is on meth. His portrayal is dark, clever and feels wonderfully "non-human". Helps that this series so far has been so confidently written, allowing him to get off on a smoother start than some previous Doctors.
Best of the bunch imo. Hope he sticks around for at least another 2-3 seasons.
The Clara character seems to have improved as well.

She is MUCH better than she was with Matt Smith. Last series she was just a plot line. Now she is treated like an actual companion.
i have trouble understanding what he's saying sometimes... when he talks low and fast with his accent i can't hear it
excellent.
im not quite sure what to make of him.
with previous doctors they were going to watch your back. he was an alien at home amongst humans and valued all. even when matt smyths doctor got really angry at humans for screweing up there was a sense that he was doing so because he knew humans were better than what they were doing.
but this incarnation.....i dont know. so far he has continued to go on crazy adventures and still keep everyone safe.....but i get a sense that he is doing it out of a sense of duty or even just routine. with other doctors i knew he would bail everyone out in the end but this one is the most likely not to. maybe the doctors age was cought up with him somewhat. humans seem less of a concern for him now in any case imho.
in one of the trailers he asked "am i a good man?". in this incarnation im not so sure.
its going to be interesting to see how this doctor develops.

Just be glad he doesn't have a thick accent, otherwise you really would be using subtitles.
He's quickly becoming my favorite Doctor of the modern era. His portrayal of the Doctor is simply put, fantastic. Unlike Matt Smith and David Tennant he doesn't feel human. He actually portrays himself as the alien that he is. He is more dark and very clever. They are definitely moving the series in the right direction.
I had some reservations when he was announced but I will gladly admit I was wrong; he's great and this season seems to be an improvement in every aspect. Just hope they do another Weeping Angels episode (yeah, I know it'll get stale, but they're still my favourites)
@uninspiredcup: I understand him just fine...well, 90% of it at least =P
He actually has the potential of becoming my favourite doctor (though I haven't watched the classic series yet), which I really didn't expect. The fact that he's clearly a lot darker than his predecessors, as some of you have mentioned, makes it even better and more interesting in my opinion.

yeh i like him as the last one had a funny forehead :p
also he comes across as more of a bad ass and superior to the human monkeys plus he has they eye brows just wtf lol
also sounds scottish, tennant hided his scottishness this guy is just like feck it im scottish :)
He's my favourite Doctor. I think his performance and the more focused writing of this season is making me become more of a fan of Doctor Who.

I've been hesitant to go this far, but tonight's episode might have just sealed the deal.
I'd say he's up there
The thing with Smith it took him a good season to get into gear while Capaldi and Tennant just went HAM on their first episodes.
Still gotta get caught up on Doctor Who (fucking PHENOMENAL SHOW!). I can only hope this is representative of Capaldi as the Doc! :P
Maybe I just watch too many shows/films from the UK, but I can not understand how people can not understand him.
Love him, he's easily the funniest Doctor yet. I appreciate that he's not all that likable. He's got a lot of room to grow, unlike 10 and 11 who pretty much just stayed the same throughout their entire runs.
I can't understand a freaking word he says. He loses points with me for that alone.
I didn't know you still post here. Haven't seen you in like 2 years! :o

It's a British show. Would you complain about a Japanese show having people talk Japanese?
I really like him, and Clara too. My only problem is that this series has felt so pointless. There appears at times to be an overall plot hidden somewhere in there with the "Heaven" scenes we see at the end of some episodes, but it's so underplayed that it feels like they aren't going anywhere with it, and when you've just had episode 8 of a 12 episode series you expect to know SOMETHING about what's going on.

I've preferred it this way. Works perfectly for his first series. It hints at an underlying series arc, but allows the focus to be on letting the viewers to get to know the new Doctor; while also letting the Doctor sort of figure out what sort of person he is going to be. I think it is always important with this new Doctor, for the time being, to remember he is essentially the start of a whole new cycle - he is in a way the 1st not 12th. I think this explains a lot why he feels so un-human. It also explains why he is so keen to figure himself out, asking Clara if he is a good man. He wants to better understand who he was in the previous cycle, while also figuring out what kind of person he will be going forward, in the new cycle. It is much easier to do this sort of development by putting him in a bunch of unique situations each episode, supposed to focusing on one arc or enemy.
@Vanine_28: Well, i think he is the most consistent and entertaining Doctor. It clearly shows that he is the right man for the job. There have been flop castings regarding the Third Doctor, but Capaldi is a legend. He is even acting in the latest season of DW. The premiere looks good and i think you should check it out.
