It'll leave marks depending on where you shoot it. Yes, it hurts like hell. I got shot twice, once on the foot, another on the leg, it left a red mark. But, it didn't stay there for long.
my cousin paintball alot but he is not like a pro or something, his weapon cost like 350 dollars, and it hurt if you dont use proper protection, my friend was shot one halloween and he was left with marks in his back. with protection it will still hurt but not so much :P
well i got a semi-automatic compact spyder used for only $150, works really well, and you can always get cheap paintballs from walmart (as long as you know that they explode on impact and dont just bounce off) you can also get a full head mask from walmart for $15. and it doesnt hurt that bad, just wear thick clothes, or just get body armor from dick's sporting goods or some local paintball store
lol nvmmy party was a limo that too kme al lartound town to a suit in a hotel (3 connecting rooms) for a lan party, swimming and whatever the frik i felt like doing it was so cool.........................

It really doesn't hurt that much. And with all the adrenaline flowing in your body, you'll barely feel a thing.
And unless you're buying all the latest gear, it's not that expensive either. The only thing I'd recommend you buy is a fog-proof mask. You'll be fine using the rest of the crap they give you.
