Does anyone else notice how most protagonists are unrealistic?

By that, I mean, that in a lot of books, movies, games, etc., the protagonists had literally no flaws in their characters, when you see them (besides maybe a negative backstory). I've noticed that a lot of these character seem to have the "quiet, introvert, skilled but humble" types of personalities.

I'm much more annoyed at characters that aren't characters at all, but more like Deus Ex Machina plot devices.

A lot of French new movies use that style. Not allowing you to sympathize or relate to characters so you don't get caught up in emotions.

A lot of protagonists in mangas are flawed. Most of the protagonists seem to be prudes and tend to act like a dick.

I've noticed that too. I myself like a hero that has flaws, and it's interesting seeing or reading about them constantly struggling or overcoming their flaws. It makes them more easy to relate to.

Most protagonists tend to have this incredible moral compass where they act saint like. Just like the real world.

Protagonists are supposed to be that way so that we can only dream of becoming one, if it was realistic it would be like watching yourself in the mirror. If you like those types you should stick with movies that have realistic stories.

Watching myself would be horribly awkward. Especially if the viewers had access to my thoughts.

I messed up on that sentence.XD What I mean is that sometimes not everything has to be related to yourself or be realistic in order to enjoy a movie.
