I have been told my entire life I do. Im a great reader/writer and I plan on being some sort of writer or director at some point in life. In my high school my teachers say I have alot of potential but I dont use it. (Which im sure every teacher says to every kid) Butmy writing and reading abilty makes me beleaves so along with many other reasons. But why is it that I find it impossible to sit back and write a story or poem or anything? Or write notes in class and do homework. Its like there is some sort of force field stoping me. Anyone have answers or similarities?Kokiri-Kid
Maybe you're just lazy or can't get motivated enough? That is true for me.

Either your joking or you teacher is a dick. Plain & simple.
No, he just says that if I don't follow instructions I won't be able to function is society. Which I guess has some truth, but still.I have been told my entire life I do. Have you ever considered that they are wrong, and that you really DON'T have potential?
Or that you do have potential, but you just waste it because you're too lazy to try?
I mean, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but these are things that you need to consider. If you're constantly failing at something that you think you should be good at, you need to ask yourself why you keep failing. Maybe you have a psychological condition that is holding you back? I don't know.
But let me say that MOST people have a "force field" stopping them from doing things. And that force field is called "laziness".
I'm not saying that laziness is YOUR "force field", but you honestly seem as if you're dodging responsibility here.

No, he just says that if I don't follow instructions I won't be able to function is society. Which I guess has some truth, but still.Let's just say that plenty of people don't follow instructions real well and they do just fine in our society, sounds to me like your teacher has an ax to grind more then anything else.
My English teacher says I'm a failure because I read ahead in books (I am unable to read along with someone else speaking).AeronauticalYour teacher is an asshat. I cannot follow when someone is reading aloud. I get distracted easily and cannot concentrate when it happens. My teacher says it's perfectly fine to read ahead, just as long as you know what you're reading and such things like that.
No, he just says that if I don't follow instructions I won't be able to function is society. Which I guess has some truth, but still.AeronauticalThere's going to be at times where it is hard to follow instructions. If you're enjoying the book, you'll end up reading ahead without realizing it and without trying. It just happens. It's not your fault. Plus, if you work ahead in some things, it can always add up in a positive way. ;)

stop being lazy. my dad says that if theres any problem with you the change has to start with you and nobody else. that is unless its like an actual disorder or something.

I can usually follow along if I want to, but I usually just act like I'm reading and listen. And there's no way reading ahead is a bad thing; falling behind is a bad thing, your teacher needs punched.

I kind of have a disorder, but it only happens from time to time, but I still think that you can do things to help you make the change.

Not much I can say, other than "don't be so lazy".
Sorry. I wish there was an easy fix for laziness, but the only real fix is to just not be lazy.

An easy fix would be to dump people out in the wilderness, where they have to travel 50 miles in every direction to find civilization.I have been told my entire life I do. Anyone have answers or similarities?Kokiri-KidIt's called indolence, and most people experience the feeling. You just have to grit your teeth and push past it. Do the work anyway, even if it feels like chewing sawdust. Eventually you'll get more used to it. As for the artistic stuff, I don't know if you can make yourself be creative, but it's worth a shot.
Sort of. It's more of a "I'm better than this" sort of feeling rather than not having an unflourished skill. I know I'm better than how I am right now, but I am just too lazy to do anything. ANd the bad thing is, every time I say I'm going to do something, I know with that little feeling in the back of my head that it all means nothing.
Anyone ever get that feeling? Where you say you're going to do something alot but you know in the back of your mind that it's all BS and that you'll never do it?
What you're experiencing is nothing more than writer's block. I often encounter it in my compositional activities. Part of it is the subconcious realization that it's really hard to create an excellent piece or artwork (or in your case, write anything)! Frankly, there's no way to combat that feeling. You just have to fight through it and start working on something or wait until you feel a surge of motivation to work. I tend to go with the latter, and as such, I am a streaky composer. I go for long spells without committing a single note to paper, but then all of a sudden I will compose in a frenzy for a few weeks and accomplish something significant.
Even when you're not actually writing, you can be brainstorming. If you come up with an excellent idea, you can't help but write it down, because it bothers you that the idea is sitting there in your brain but could be easily lost if you forget it. In reality, if you don't feel that compulsive need to commit something to paper, the idea probably wasn't worth committing to paper anyways.

There is no easy way to combat laziness, you just have to find the will power to force yourself. Motivation makes it easier to force yourself to do things, but where are you going to find your motivation? For some people, just being better than others or being the best person they can be is movtivation enough for them to push themselves, but most normal people are not like that. One thing you could do is try to figure out what things in life you're passionate about and try to find your motivation from there.
