I do. As much as I love reading, I just can't stay awake doing it. I keep dozing off no matter what the book when I read on my breaks at work. It's quite frustrating, really. I hardly get anything read at work, so I have to try to make it up at home, and I still end up falling asleep while reading athome. Anyone have any tips for staying awake while reading?

Only when I go to bed late and still try to get a chapter in. Do you get enough sleep? Sounds like a bigger underlying problem.

That is most likely it. The only time I really feel tired is when I sit down to read. The only time I can really read without falling asleep is when I just wake up.

Yes, I do. Actually, I have to have a bright light shining on me and the book while i'm reading. If it's a dim light or even almost dark in the room, I will fall asleep.

Same thing here. I think that books should have more explosions and better special effects. That'd help to keep me interested.

Reading makes me tired, but reading the forums on GameSpot or something on the computer doesn't really make me tired. Mostly with books, and it's nice to do when you can't fall asleep.

I used to. My eye doc said it was from eye strain, and a pair of reading glasses fixed the problem. Maybe you need them?

Only when it's late at night and I'm about to go to bed. Otherwise I could read all day if I liked the book.

No, and when I do read I have a hard time sleeping afterward because there is so much to think about.

Hmm... I don't feel any strain or discomfort when I read, though...

If you read in your bed you're likely to fall asleep because you associate the bed with sleep. If you overcome that, the bed will be associated with reading and you won't be able to fall asleep. or so I learned in psych

Yup. I can read in bed for about an hour, then the words start swimming. It's the best way to KO, imo.

Normally, especially if its a school textbook. Not only do i get tired but i get distracted easily and sorta day dream while i read, taking caffiene pills has helped a little though in getting through the early afternoon fatigue. Trying to read after eating is difficult too as digesting food makes your body tired and if your not active around this point it will take effect.

Not at all; in fact, I have the opposite problem. If I try to read at night I'll get too excited to sleep.

You, Sir, need more sleep! I have the same problem sometimes, that's why I don't read when I'm tired, because it makes me dislike the book I'm reading. When I start reading when I'm not tired, and end up getting tired while reading, I usually can't stop reading :P

I end up dozing off, too, sometimes. I enjoy reading, as long as the book is good.

It's the exact opposite for me. I often read late at night before I go to bed. Sometimes I don't realize how long I've been reading and it'll be hours past the time I should have stopped. =P
