I recently started listening to them and I think they're pretty freakin awesome. I like this video especially... except for the ending :(

"this video is not available in your country"
:P well, i think slayer are pretty good.. raining blood is one hell of a song. but i really cant stand their vocals.. its just.. i cant stand it! the closest thing to slayer that i actually like, is machine head. if you havent already, go buy their latest album "the blackening" or download it!! the beginning of the first track, "clenching the fists of a dissent", must be some of the greatest piece of music ever made!
anyway. sorry, didnt mean to rape your topic.. but yeah, slayer are definitely a good band. its just the vocals...
didnt they win the Grammy for Best Metal Performance this year and last year?
Eyes of the Insane and something else.
I dont like them, i think As I Lay Dying should of won best metal performance of the year...

Reign in Blood is the only song of theirs I like.

My friends older sister thinks we're going to "tie black people to our cars and drag them around" and "grow up and beat our wives" because we listen to Slayer. Well at least we don't listen to crappy Indie Rock!!!
they have their moments.LoG-Sacrament
exactly. other than that, they are pretty much like any other band to me.
and the chaninator. eviles got some awesome guitar work.. and their vocals are like exactly the same as slayers! one of the reason why i dont really like that kind of vocals. everyone does it!
i only like pure screaming, og pure clean singing.. like triviums ascendancy. not too keen on "yelling" kind of vocals, with the exeption of machine head..

IDK for some reason I like Evile and not Slayer. I guess because I got so excited finding out that Thrasher is going to be made available for download on Rock Band. I cannot WAIT to try and play that song!!!
BTW funny you mention Machine Head because I am listening to "Now I Lay Thee Down" as I type.

Yeah, i havent really gotten into evile just yet.. their album wouldnt download, and im NOT gonna buy it before i know its good, as its really not my kind of music at all.. and now i lay thee down is an awesome heavy song..
I like Slayer. Over the summer I went to a Mariyln Manson / Slayer concert. It was friggin awesome.ff7cloudkingI went to that tour, and sold my pit pass for 60$ bucks after Slayer's set was over. Slayer concerts are **** brutal, thier circle pits always encompass such a big portion of the venue (at least everytime I've seen them.) Going over the rail during Angel of Death at my first Slayer concert is a fond memory of mine
I have 8 of their songs, the best ones being Raining Blood and Mandatory Suicide. I like Slayer alot.

what? why would you go over the rail? doesnt that just get you kicked out from the concert?

Each venue is different on thier stance on crowd surfing, and all of them in my area allow it.they pretty much pioneered extreme metal and thrash metal:|-Sniper99-
dont sell celtic frost's influence short.

Or Sepultura, Deathstrike, D.R.I., and Cryptic Slaughter.

Well, they contributed to making it more mainstream.[QUOTE="LoG-Sacrament"][QUOTE="-Sniper99-"]they pretty much pioneered extreme metal and thrash metal:|-Sniper99-

Well, they contributed to making it more mainstream. And Slayer didn't? Both of them played a big part in the underground in the 80's, which became noticed, bankrupt of worth, and sold in the mid-90's. See: At the Gates

Well let me rephrase that. They helped bring in a flood of extreme metal bands. Not neccesarily mainstream, but awhole bunch of them. Celtic Frost pretty much started Black Metal in my opinion.[QUOTE="-Keel-_basic"][QUOTE="-Sniper99-"][QUOTE="LoG-Sacrament"][QUOTE="-Sniper99-"]they pretty much pioneered extreme metal and thrash metal:|-Sniper99-
