Does anyone support the 2nd Amendment? I sure as hell do.

Ok first of all, I support my founding fathers to allow Americans to possess weapons

I was talking to my teacher about it in class and he told me something which I looked up

He told me that in England, someone went to a grocery store and shot up the place. So England had enough of it and banned all citizens from having weapons period. They had to turn in all their weapons by a certain date (I believe Jan 2000) unless the weapon was fully licensed and stored in a weapons vault or if you were apart of a certain gun club. I think that's ****** up. But anyways it didn't do ****. After the ban of handguns too, the crime level rose 40% why? Its so obvious, since crooks know there aren't any weapons inside a home, they know that they wont get shot at. This is why I disagree with anyone who says that it would be better without weapons. Agree with me or not, but I see no reason why people are bashing the 2nd Amendment. If I am living alone, hell I wouldn't mind having a gun around. If someone broke into my house, fearing for my life and my loveone's lives, I would arm myself and blow his braings out if he got anywhere close to me or my love ones. Wouldn't you??

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/1440764.stm

Ima be buying that **** someday...Yeehaw!! laser pointer!!

So we'd have nuclear weapons, but for ground war, we'd still be using swords...

Isn't this like the third thread of this kind in like 3 days? It seems like every day of this week I see a new variant on the "Do you support the second amendment" thread. And no, I don't support the second amendment.

We'd all have broad swords in our closets and plate armor within reach.

Frankly I can understand why someone would want a single hand gun just in case in some areas based on the crime levels, but when they prop 45 different guns all ranging from handgun to assasult rifles in the bathroom alone, then it just sounds moronic.

Thank god I live in Norway where the only guns around are used for hunting and by the police on very extreme cases.

I support it. My father owns some firearms, and we use them for recreational purposes like hunting and target practice, though if we didn't engage in those activities, we wouldn't feel the need to own those weapons, since I live in a very secure part of town. Then again, Austin, Texas hasn't had much of a crime rate to begin with.

I've always thought that the question of "do you support the second amendment" is kind of silly, really. Those who support gun control in the US will almost assuredly assert that the second amendment does not guarantee a univeral, unlimited right to bear whatever arms one wants. Thus, the question is essentially meaningless and misleading.

personally i'ld prefer to rely on myself than some outside organisation. The solution to the average person thing is national service i'm pretty sure it would solve alot of problems, i think that's how it works in switzerland, if you finish your national service properly with no hicups you get to keep your gun or atleast your sidearm.

Not really, given how it has been misinterpreted to the point of tears. The bottom line is that SOME PEOPLE SHOULD NOT HAVE GUNS. Should criminals, children, or the mentally ill have access to guns? The sad thing is that at least two out of the three have been allowed to own guns without serious regulation.

Plus, I don't think it's right to tell others how to live their peaceful lives. ;)

And just a question, are you Canadian or American?

I saw you say you were American in one thread, but in another I thought you said you were Canadian.

And before someone goes "Canada is part of the Americas", I know that already, I figured you'd be smart enough to know what I'm talking about.

[QUOTE="markop2003"] personally i'ld prefer to rely on myself than some outside organisation. The solution to the average person thing is national service i'm pretty sure it would solve alot of problems, i think that's how it works in switzerland, if you finish your national service properly with no hicups you get to keep your gun or atleast your sidearm.SolidSnake35
Seems fair enough. It brings up a good point though. A pistol is all that's needed, if anything. Wanting something more than that is just stupid and a reason for why I don't think some people can be trusted with any gun.

Having a shotgun makes sense as you don't have to aim as much. I wouldn't be surprised if switwrland also had some sort of emergancy law to hand out rifles though, their country is a bit lik a fortress: by law everyhouse has to have a nuclear bunker with 2 months worth of food in it and every adult 18-21 has to do 2 years national service (usually in the military though can be in hospitals ect).

Anyone who puts their faith ENTIRELY into a power to protect them needs to re-align the head that's in their arse. VoodooGamer
You don't need a gun to protect yourself.
Contrary to what the 1980s movie Red Dawn would have you believe, you can't fight an army with a pistol.Vandalvideo
How disappointing. I was thinking of declaring war on the military tomorrow as well.
What about hunting? You need a rifle for that.. Plus, I don't think it's right to tell others how to live their peaceful lives. ;) VoodooGamer
No need to hunt. There's enough food in supermarkets. I was asked.
