Go tell that to a rape victim.
Assuming we're dealing with the Judeo-Christian God (which the TC doesn't specifically say), I'd have to disagree. Are you saying rape victim only goes farther away from God?
Romans 8:16-17
For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are God's children. And since we are his children, we will share his treasures-for everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours, too. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.
That's from the Bible itself. If we're going to argue by the religion, there you go. Notice that nowhere does it mention self-infliction. Using the Bible as a basic, I could easily see how rape could bring you closer to God since after all, you have been mistreated and one would logically think that if God was as caring as we make him out to be, then surely he would put the victim in mind.
[QUOTE="Genetic_Code"][QUOTE="MrGeezer"][QUOTE="yoshi-lnex"]Your uncle clearly has very little knowledge of the bible.
He has it completely backward, the bible states that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven.

Then why are all of the rich republicans Christians?
Why specify Republicans? Last I checked, the toprunners for the Demos were also rich and Christian other than perhaps Joe Lieberman, but Mit Romney has a great chance of winning than him (and he's a Mormon which isn't even considered a Christian sect by some Christians and a GOP candidate).
I don't understand why people specify Republicans as the only ones that are Christian.
I specified Republicans because not all rich people are Christians.
I understand where you're coming from but I know a whole lot more poor Republican Christians than rich ones where I live. I'm just saying that they can't be grouped either way.
Obviously.
That's why I said "rich Republicans" instead of "poor Republicans".
I mean, we WERE talking about RICH people, weren't we? I don't recall once saying that all Republicans are rich.
