Does society hate neckbeards?

It seems neckbeards have been the recent subject of verbal abuse on the internet, getting often called beardfat, beardneck, etc..

I think they're a sign of laziness, and yes I've had one temporarily :P

No opinion since it seems to be a preference sort of thing. That said, I still shave and keep my hair within military regs.

Neckbeards are associated with otaku virgin nerds living in basements so yes, society hates neckbeards.

Well, the neckbeard is the easiest type of facial hair to grow. I've heard many definitions of what a neckbeard is, from all hair below the chin, to a short, rustic beard, to a full beard with hair on the neck. It really depends on the person's face. The only reason I try to keep a beard is because I look 12 without facial hair, and if it turns out to be a neckbeard, so be it.

Normally, it seems most guys can't grow anything outside of a neckbeard, so they shave it off and claim it's the worst type of facial hair.

I don't see a point in growing a neckbeard.  They are just plain ugly.  If you can't grow a proper beard than just go clean shaven.
