Mine does, quite often. After listening to Blind Guardian's "A Night At The Opera" once again that album has yet again grown on me. I think It's doing the same thing Dream Theater did to me.I have some sort of emotional connection to the music and can only think "That is so beautiful".

Call me strange if you will, Porcupine Tree and Tool almost do that too. But what makes more sense is that it also happens with Simon and Garfunkel.

Does this ever happen to you?

The new school hip-hop certainly won't, but old-school hip-hop I might understand, ie I Must Stand by Ice T.

Complete opposite to me. One of the songs that toched my heart was about recovering from insanity and descructive obsessions...

The are some songs where I actually teared up listening to them.

Children of the Sea-Sabbath and Arc of Space-Bruce Dickinson being the most effective.

There are others that I just sit back and think "Wow this is great stuff," but they are too numerous to name at the moment.

Are you for real? You ask people what music touches there heart, then if it doesn't agree with your tastes the user clearly misunderstood you? Seriously?

As for me; Once upon a time I was falling in love, now I'm only falling apart. There's nothing I can do, a Total Eclipse of the Heart :'(

Music is the purest form of expression in the world; a song that was not created to communicate something on an ineffable level is, frankly, dead.

I wasn't being condescending. I was merely stating an opinion. If his music does posess those qualities then that's great. On a side note, I can now say without a shadow of doubt that you are my least favorite poster on gamespot. Everything you say just pisses me off.

No offence, but while I can see chaoscougar1 misinterpreted your post, you do come off as condescending in a lot of your threads. Whether you are purposely doing it or not is irrelevant. The simple fact is people have different taste in music, and if you keep trying to remind people that you don't like their taste in music they're going to get pissed off after awhile. And to answer your question, yes.

for meyes sometimes like "one last goodbye- Anathema" or "comfortably numb- Pink Floyd" or "tears in heaven- Eric Clapton" or "stairway to heaven- Led zeppelin" or....

there are alot. these aresongs that i never forget.

i cry every time i hear David Gilmoure solo at NUMB. when comes to the high part from hissolo it seems there is no David around, it seems he get some especial power from god andhe isbecominApotheosis of guitar.
(if u focused on their concerts when solo begins they put alot of lights on Gilmour to enhanced the feeling u get)

Post-rock like Godspeed! and this band go direct to my heart. They don't pass 'Go', nor collect £200. Also songs like The Warmth - Incubus.

But I find a lot of things touching or emotional on some level, regardless of genre, it's one of the things I love about music so much.

Taylor Swift makes me emotional.

But most Disney songs happen to be very cheesy and touchy to that soft spot in my heart.

Can You Feel The Love Tonight can make me cry. :P

Listened alot to this last year, kind of a terrible year for me, this song did without a doubt touch my heart.
Life Goes On - Tupac Shakur

The message is so real and you know there is a mountain of pain, sorrow, memories and life lessons expressed in that song.

Yeah dude. As an example, Chopin. I find it hard to believe that anyone, regardless of their preference in music, cannot connect to his music on some deeper level; his music is poetry for the soul (whatever that is). The same can be said for other classical composers (not exclusive to just classical, as others here will attest to), but I just find Chopin to be the most universal, by which I mean I've never met a person who doesn't like his music (there are surely those out there who don't like his music, but that's either because they haven't actually sat down and listened to it, or they're robots, and robots don't get opinions -- except maybe for HK-47, but that's only because we share similar ideals).

Does this ever happen to you?

Wait, Blind guardians " night at the opera"? Maybe they were Queen fans or Marx Bro's fans. Anyway this album among others always gives me goose bumps. Especially the song "Miracle Drug"

Hip Hop songs featuring introspective, thoughtful, or otherwise "deep" lyrics generally do it for me. It also helps when the music in the song complements the lyrics.

As for me a lot of Modest Mouse's songs got to me back when I was really into them.

Listen to more hip-hop artists and their lyrics. Artists like Nas, Public Enemy, Black Star, Outkast, Organized Konfusion, etc. My I also note that it seems a lot of people think of hip-hop as something that is one sided. Artists can be some unique with the beats they use, how they use their flow, and the words they use.
