im always seeing little shots taken at canada on tv shows and such, people in forums and whatnot making fun of canada. i was watching family guy last night, the indian casino one, and they say something about mexicains, then they clarify when why mexicains are so important, then they do the same thing with french people or something, then they make fun of canada, and hes like "what? canada sucks" i realise that its a joke, and its funny, i just see it all the time. im not american, but is there some subconscious hate towards canadians in your country lol?
and THEN, im watching Conan later that night, and once again, shots at canada. talking about what countries you should be hating, they go through a few, then comes candada. and thats where you can clearly see the focus.
anyway, needed to hear something. is there some historical fact that im not aware of? did we rape and pillage your women?
anyway, and TONS of completely ludacris stereotypes about canada still exist. it's like they're being taught in your school system.
i've lived here al my life, 18 years - i have never once seen a mountee or an igloo, its winter here for 4 months of the year, we don't live with penguins etc.

down here in ontario, or civlized canada as i call it, you wouldnt be able to tell the difference. you get rid of the toll booth in buffalo and keep driving you wont know you left.

The 'eh' thing is what gets me, since I know no one who actually uses the word. I think we can blame Strange Brew for all of the lingering stereotypes. :P
That and the maritimes garner a lot of focus because people there have such a strong accent. It's not strictly a Canadian accent, but sometimes it gets labeled as such. Aboot.

Btw...I live in Alberta and the oil sands were a money pit until recently. They've been digging and R&Ding the extraction process for as long as I can remember. Hell of a gamble, but they're looking like FREAKING GENIUSES now.

Yup I saw that on History channel or Discovery channel or something. They're sitting on a crapload of oil in those sandies. And the truckers that drive the oil and sand and crap get 100k a year :|
yup, Alberta is in an economic "boom" at the moment. wages are through the roof but dont be impressed by that, the cost of life is just as high over there!
