Does this seem like a good reason to change schools?

Hi, I kinda of suck at math, (and not am not bad at English , am only bad in spelling and grammar :P) anyhow, am having some problems. See in our math in this private school works like this: when we have tests, the questions of these test are all random questions throughout the past year and I REALLY suck at that. Working hard is pointless because if I do the questions that I worked on it will probally not even show up

That being said am usually a hard worker, I don't mind studying an hour for a test ifit will get be an A, but rather then testing you over what they did that week, they test you over the whole year. Right now am taking honors andI only have a 75, moving down to regular won't make a difference because again, the same test designs are still there.

Do you think I should ask my parents and switch schools, so I can work hard and do my best, in this subject? I already changed schools 8 times and am in the 9th grade, got held back in the 1st grade 8)(but I changed schools all those times because of my parents it was not because of me) any suggestions?

thanks.

You mean you just memorize the answers to specific problems, rather than learn how to actually solve them?

Sounds like you need to study more the purpose of the course is by the end for you to know how to do every problem in the book not just what you learned a few days ago.

ummmm not exactly I know how to spell, and use grammer enough to construct a decent paper. But am not good at spelling complex words, and high school level grammar.

I lean how to do them, and use my skills on the test. they don't give you the answers to the problems before the test BRO.

sooo you want to change schools because your teacher test you on problems you learned in the past?

soo why even learn the stuff you do in cIass? learn it for one week get tested on it that friday and forget it you dont need it no more right??? is that how you see it?

your teach will you. your right you might not use every problem we do here in life but i bet you use some of it.

in my math CIass my teacher did 4 test a month and 4 weekly homeworks. The weekly homeworks would be like a study guide for the finale test of the month. That friday every week would be a test what we learned through out the week, The test at the end of the month would be a test on all problems though out the whole year.

um, in math classes ur supposed to learn how to solve a type of question, not a specific one. and yeah, when u get to college ur gonna be screwed if u can't work like that. memorizing the answer to one question is not the way to do teh maths.

so, no, not a good reason to move schools because all math classes are structured like that, math is cumulative, have to learn addition to know multiplication to know BEDMAS to know algebra to know calculas and so on. so it's fair that they test you on stuff from the beginning of the year (or even the year before).

Believe it or not the teacher is helping you by having these weekly test things they will help you stay current with all the problems instead of doing quizs on the latest material.

In high school you should really begin typing up your main paper like reports, essays ect So when you type on microsoft word they have spell check and all that and you hand them in. When you hand in major paper in high school you pretty much get a copy back from your English teacher about grammar issues and you go fix them and return them back to them for the final grade. In collage you get one chance... If your English teacher isn't doing this on your major paper's then she is failing in my opinion, Because how else do you suppose to learn what you did bad and correct them?

That should even be easyier lol one month is long time to forget. so once a week should be in your head.

Two, your past homework is your study guide... you already know how your teacher test so why don't you take on your own responabilty to back track each problem and refresh your self once a week.

these weekly homeworks we got wasn't 100% study guide to test . They was random type of problems through out the year, To keep us refreshed.

and my advice to you is stop using BRO... Hey BRO, Bro Bro Bro Bro Bro Bro Bro...

You mean you only study an hour and expect to get an A?? Listen I'm in Engineering in college and the math there sometimes asks questions as far as 8th grade that's how math is and in order to get an A I don't really need to study an hour I need to study for Days 8 to 10 hours. College will screw you mate and even if you don't take a math related major, if you keep blaming on others your lack of results you won't get too far

no you should not change school's bc this is life. you should ask ur parents for a tutor or something and work even harder on math. math is the same everywhere. it always builds on what you learn in the past. plus running away from problems or difficulties will not get you anywhere in life.

Just keep working at it. If you're this bad at math, have fun later in life. I still can't contemplate how some people found Pre-Calculus difficult when I was a junior last year. (hell, especially the seniors taking it this year)

Welcome to college good sir. Cumulative finals over everything. Especially math which is a comprehensive subject, of course your expected to know everything. If you don't deal with it now, you'll only have to deal with it later.

But why do now what you can put off until the end of the quarter? :P Seriously, though, that's not a valid reason for switching schools. Like others have said, math is cumulative and you'll need to know all of it at the end of the year. Switching schools won't change that. If you're really struggling that much, ask somebody who is doing well in the class to help you with the types of problems that are giving you the most trouble or get a tutor. Does your school have National Honor Society? I'm pretty sure NHS members have to be present after school to offer tutoring twice a week.

School should be easier for you. I know many kids who have accelerated a few grades and it's relatively easy for them. Just study consistantly and there should be no reason you can't get A's. It doesn't have to be much commitment.

lol you were kept back for a grade.

School should be easier for you. I know many kids who have accelerated a few grades and it's relatively easy for them. Just study consistantly and there should be no reason you can't get A's. It doesn't have to be much commitment.

Yeah you got a problem with that or something?

Anyways it should be about the same, the brain is almost donedevolvingat age 15 (I believe) so 1 year should not make a big difference.

That being said am usually a hard worker, I don't mind studying an hour for a test ifit will get be an A,

What grade are you in? I can't see how studying an hour for a test is hard work, given that we need to study around four to five hours/day to have a chance at getting a 9.0+ at a test, here. Last year of high school was hell, and college isn't being any easier either.

Damn in our school everyone says they never study, and even the ones who make good grades say the same thing, and usually make A's on tests. They always say things like "OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH my I neverstudy for this test am am sooooooooooo going to fail " and end up getting like a 95. :o
