Significant and repeated exposure to violent video games is not healthy for young people, especially young people who are otherwise maladjusted.

ARTICLE Whats your opinion OT, is it true or depends on individuals?  What does your experience say ? Personally i never get aggressive while enjoying my favourite video games. Rather video games help me relax from stress.

what an old article...@topic it depends on which game he/she is fond to. many kids today tried to prove that video games can be imitated, but actually,it was the stupidest move.I mean look at the schools they have attended, bloody walls and floors, dead people, they got too much obsession to these recently and transformed into antisocials...my lesson of life is that we can enjoy these, but take good knowledge on how long you should play any of it

I played 18+ games at the age of 10, and I'm a complete pacifist.

Only sub-par parents blame video games for the violent actions or intentions of their offspring. Then they try to convince others that they're correct, and some fools believe them. They can't take the blame for what their lack of discipline caused.

Yeah. correlation does not equal causation. Also good job author writing an article in 2013, using a screen from CoD from like 2005.

Reminds me of the exact incident back in 2003. It was Valentine's Day,and I ruined it,because I was angry at a certain someone whom I placed on the death note,I behaved like that for 5 whole days, and I never came back to that school the following week.my recent psychological report stated that I was addicted to a 18+ game

If it did we would have to come to the conclusion that it in fact lessens violence.. Right now the US has the lowest violent crime rate it has had for decades, it has been a gradual decrease.. Meanwhile video games have exponentially increased in popularity and size these past decades..

It's not really a matter of opinion.  Violent video games have been definitively demonstrated to be a contributing factor in increased aggression and desensitization, especially for individuals with pre-existing personality disorders.

Sports games f*ck me off a lot more than any violent game I've ever played. Football Manager has led to a lot more screams and anger than a shooter or the like.

Great grammar OP. Also yes, it is for me an indisputable fact for me that violent tendencies in some especially those that aim to emulate what they've done in a computer game. In another way, I guess playing computer games can be a way in which you can channel aggression into something harmless, although probably not as useful as doing boxing or something.

Been proven their is no link. But oh well the media has to point to somewhere. Before it was Books, then TV, then Music now games. Only people influenced by these mediums are the mentally unstable which of course are in the minority but the Media likes to sensationalize.

Most definitely.

I was incredibly upset that shit like Final Fantasy XIII and SSX (2012) ended up being garbage. I was so upset I went to the local Gamestop and knocked magazine racks ever.

the ONLY thing that causes murder is a lack of self control.

there are a ton of variables, but in the end it comes down to the individual.

that's why we persecute drunk drivers, and not the alcohol they drank.

Nah. I've been playing games like GTA since I was young and I'm a pretty calm person.

They might be able to if lkids/teens have spent alot of time playing violent video games ever since they were little (this probably wouldn't apply to everyone  in this sample though). Or violent video games could affect someone if they are mentally unstable or something.

Agression is sparked by the brain's chemicals; I feel video games aren't the cause, more or less untreated problems within the individual.
