Ok I'm getting a black 30GB Zune and I ant to know which sound quality is better. Since the Zunes have such high capacity hard drives I'll put the bit rate on 320 KBPS and the sampling frequency on the highest setting too.

I know MP3's are smaller file sizes, and the Zune has a really big hard drive, but if they're both the same quality, then I might as well just pick MP3, but if WMA is a little higher quality, then I can afford that minor convenience. They both work on the 360 for some serious streamin!

Also it can only play WMV video files for video playing though it comes with a converter so that'll work on my 360 too for some more serious streamin!

So which has better quality?

Also one more thing, the songs you get from Zune marketplace, do they work on the Xbox 360? I know they're special and not like normal WMA's.

Actually I've conducted a couple test. 320kbps sounds just as good as WMA lossless.

But 192kbps Mp3 does have superior sound.

So you think MP3 will do the job?

I've had wma's at 64 kbps sound the same as mp3's at 128 kbps, but for some reason it gets reversed at higher bitrates.  mp3 is also a more widely accepted format.

I would stick to WMA since the sound quality [at least to me] is the same. However, WMA take up only half the memory an MP3 does.

WMA has higher quality than MP3 when the bit rate is the same. And for that matter, anything over 128kbps is undistinguishable with regular headphones or stereo speakers. 192kbps is the highest I ever put my WMAs at.

You know I'll just do MP3 on 320 bit rate, less space and about the same quality.
