Yeah im pissed at my parents cause all they ramble on and on is about jesus saving. Literally its getting on my nerves right now, they dont notice how much of a negative impact its having on my life.

Theyve converted almost the members of my family so no one is cool with me, they hate my music, looks, and they expect me to put "god" as the #1 thing in my life , i tell them i do when inside im like "screw that" and now its messing with mysocial life as well.Im sometimes forced to go to chrurch up to 4 times a week!

Im starting to develop a strong animosty towrds this christianty subject and believe less and less as each day goes on. Just felt like posting this cuz im angry and bored.

No, thank god (ironic since I think of myself as an athiest). Anyway, what is your "look," because if it's some "rebellious" rocker theme, that's lame anyway, as is being "gangsta."

What the hell is wrong with your sig ?!?

And no , my parents never controlled my religious up bringing ... they told me about Christianity and Jesus , but left it to me whether to believe in it or not.And I chose to believe.Having faith gives you something to turn to when there is nothing else left.

My mom is an atheist and I'm an atheist so I guess in some way she did. But she never talked about religion around me or anything.

I'm going to post seriously now:

Yeah, a long time ago. Then we moved, and religion no longer was a factor.

I was raised on it, but it's my family's religion not mine. I decide for myself just like everyone should. But most people are too closed minded to think outside the box.

My dad does. I tell him how much I dislike going, and should respect me in me not wanting to go, for I never want to hear any of it, and the more he makes me, the more I hate Christians. I'm starting to hold a personal vendetta against them, and thinking how Christianity shouldn't exist.

It used to, but not anymore. My life would be exactly like yours if the rest of my family knew I was an atheist. Only a tiny fraction of my family knows; my cousins. I already get a lot of crap from one of them, I can't imagine what it would be like if it was also coming from everyone else.

Refuse to go to church if you really do not want to. It is not that hard.:| The religion of my parents does not control my life, though I did live a double life until they confronted me about my beliefs and have enjoyed not having to live as my true self inside of computers anymore. As a child I made no outward rejection of Christianity, though I was already a questioner and disliked the Christian God personally for naive reasons. My parents had a policy of things being done around the place with the justification of "because I said so," therefore invocation of authority is all the argument that they expressed--when I openly became an apostate, they really did not have anything else to say to me on the subject. I do not think that their religion ever really controlled my life: I think that I simply believed that it did; I presupposed what their reaction would be, and I was wrong in the end. If you fear the religion of your parents, realize that this is only a fear of being shunned; there is nothing that they can do to make you believe if you are truly honest about what you believe with yourself, and really do not assume that you will be shunned--obviously it would not be a good idea to commit apostasy if your parents will reject you as a child and give you a horrible life, but this is case-sensitive and many religious parents will accept who you grew up to be, even if they feel that they failed. Furthermore, if they are honest Christians who believe firmly that God exists and that the Christian life will bring you salvation, it is unreasonable to expect them to not be fearful for you. Remember that.
Have faith in the Lord and you will overcome all problems.Brmarlin
How convenient it would be for the original poster to believe just so that people will get off of his back--how self-deceiving it is to be unjust to your true callings, to sacrifice your intellect for shallow comfort--all the while causing exponentially more pain due to the deceit.

Good way to ruin your life if you cannot support yourself. Even if he has to live a double life, he at least has parents who love him, parents who can provide for his future, and a place to call home.

Not in the least. My dad has been a strong Catholic since he was born, and my mom has been a fairly strong Lutheran since she was born. I was baptised, communed, and confirmed a Lutheran. However, on the day of Confirmation, my parents said that I was free to do what I wanted to in regards to my religion (within reason---no animal sacrificing and whatnot), and I've, to this day, tried to figure out what I believe in. They haven't been pushy or anything.

I think you need to reassess where your anger lies. Why would you be angry at the religion if it's your parents that are forcing it upon you?

Ignoring the root of your problems will just make you have to deal with them later at a possibly less appropriate time and with a less appropriate response.

That said, in answer to your question, yes my parents did make me become a part of their religion. But I just talked to them and told them that I was quitting it. Voila, now we get along ok and I don't have any hidden resentment for them.

I am a Christian, and I feel that your parents are going about that situation the wrong way. You can't force anyone, meaning you, to do or believe anything. My hope, as is their's, that you would make a decision to follow Christ, but if you don't want to, they can't force you to believe. The reason you have so much animosity is because you don't like being told what to do. Just like almost every teenager, even myself. Maybe one day you will make a turn in the right direction, but now you are living only for yourself, and until you realize that there are bigger things out there, you won't be ready to accept Christ. I hope things change in your life, but again, I, nor anyone, can force you against what you want. It's you that makes the decision, not us. They just want you to make the right one.

My religion was never forced, I was a Catholic as a child and I'm still now. If I ever did become an atheist I believe in time my parents would respect that.
