Dogs. Dogs need you. Cats are just lazy parasite things that are only with you for food and water a couple of times a day. The rest of the time they are off somewhere else, probably forgot all about you until they're hungry again.

That's not true, my cat Sammy is my best friend he always likes to see me and usually comes to see me in my room at least 10 times a day (less if he's staying in my room). Personally, I love cats, to me, they are the best animals I've come across. I have had a dog called Peggy once, and I agree, dogs can be very good pets too, probably the same as a cat, but I just personally don't like other people's dogs. I believe, your preference comes from influence from friends, relatives, experience, but it could be if you have had a loving, loyal cat or dog. That might be why people choose dogs over cats. Dogs are a very popular choice as pets, as such, as children, a lot of people will have a dog as a good friend during their childhood. Because of this, they may believe that most dogs will act like their's did. But the truth is, not all cats are cute and cuddly, not all dogs will defend you and follow you around constantly.
Back on topic now: I prefer cats.
