So true.

This mindset is why some people get stuck in careers at mcdonalds and walmart.
Always strive for self improvement.
This guy has to be fucking trolling. That is, like, the one surefire way to have a pretty miserable life.
35? that's way too long. I'd say about 25, depending on what you want to do, if you even know.
I can see where the dude is coming from. Youthful ambition is hard to take seriously, and easier to brush off as bravado.
I worked hard from 18 and still (and continue to) have a great life. Actually, today after work I am leaving for a 10 day vacation that was paid for by that very hard work.
For the kids of this forum, don't listen to that video it's poppy-cock. Yes nothing in life is guaranteed, and even with all the hard work in the world sometimes people get dealt crappy hands. With that said the best way to find success and reap the benefits of success is a good work ethic and to work hard.
That's not true at all. I'm 20 and look like I could be in high school. I work at an engineering firm for my co op and all the mechanical engineers and technicians listen to what I have to say. Hell when it comes to anything electrical, whatever I say goes. (I'm studying electrical engineering.) As for the electrical engineers I work with, they basically always tell me what to do so the point is moot.
I've also been given multiple things where my boss just says figure it out so I definitely get responsibility.
Not trying is a surefire way to fail. Like, it's hard for me to think of a worse possible piece of advice other than, IDK, suicide?
What an idiot. I'm making just shy of $40k a year as a single guy, living with several other people (splitting rent) and eating cheap food. It's the perfect time to work hard and build savings.
I agree in that don't try until after high school.
Anyone can graduate high school. I wish I could go back, and be a trouble maker.
Yeah shitty advice...don't try until you're 35, lol. That's horrible advice. Hell, there's certain career paths that are sealed off for many by the time they graduate high school, or even before. I can only imagine all the paths closed if you don't start trying until 35.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the reason this guy didn't get any respect as a younger person is for reasons that are evident in the video - reasons that have nothing to do with the fact that he was young.
Sure, people acknowledge inexperience, but everyone started out at some point. If you come in with the the right attitude, credentials, etc. people are going to be willing to give you a chance, even if you have to fully prove yourself before they really respect you.

dunno what part of the world you live in, but it must suck.

Slaving away your youth.
He'll be retiring in his 60's, you will probably be working until the day you drop.
@magicalclick: good point, never thought of that, but both are extremely rare circumstances. usually the child will have to show genuine talent.

some people don't like the idea of retirement.

Oh, you mean the same people who spend the first half of their life slacking are suddenly wanting to speand the rest of it working themselves to the bone. Makes sense...

yup.
diligence isn't an inherent quality, some people pick it up later in life.

I'm from the U.S.

I wish I could go back an not get in fights with people over dumb BS and take my studies more serious. I'm in college now but I could have been done with it back then instead going at 23

Yeah, that's true. I'm glad I didn't have to take some bio/chem classes in college, and foreign language.

Finally free at 60... when your youth is gone. Yeah, sounds like a solid plan...
