what are your thoughts on this?
do you support the military in being the only employer that can legally fire someone for being gay or are you against it? or is it more complicated than that?

I support it. It's fine if their gay but do they really need to tell everyone about it? It's their personal life.
I don't know anything about this, but if you think about it informing fellow soilders that you are a homosexual is a very dangerous thing to do, and perhaps it would just be safer to discharge them than have them come toany harm. For me it depends on their reasoning. If it's purely for the sake of discrimination from the employer themselves then obviously not.
You're not exactly in the military to have sexual relations, so I don't really care about it.

I'm not in the customer service department of Pizza Hut to be a Christian. I'd still be pretty pissed off if Pizza Hut fired me because I worship Jesus.
BTW, I don't work at Pizza Hut and I'm not a Christian. I'm just speaking hypothetically.
It's a tough issue. I'm not sure how they could re design the social structure to accommodate gays. We separate women and men, so what would be the best method of separating gays? Maybe, do away with all barriers and just put everyone together, men, women, gay and straight?

How would you feel if a career soldier got fired for telling someone that he just married his high school sweetheart?
There's a difference between ALLOWING people to have a private life, and FORCING people to keep their lives private.
Well. Let me say this
You're working, you're a guy. you've got a date with your lovely Girlfriend after work. everyone at work wishes you luck on a good night with your gal.
They even recommend restaurants to go to, gifts for her, etc.
So instead of a person of the opposite sex being your lover in this work conversation, its someone of the same sex
Should this not be allowed at all in the workplace, the discussion of love, heterosexual and homosexual or anything ever even if innocent and simply saying you have a girlfriend or boyfriend who you love.
Or should you be allowed to discuss it so long as its appropiate, no matter what sex the person you're saying you're dating is.
DADT is pointless IMO. If they are physically able to go to war and they wish (or in the case of drafts, have) to serve, it doesn't matter what way they swing.Ezgam3r
I think the argument is that homosexuality introduces another sexual dynamic and should be separated like men and women are.

You're not allowed to date in boot camp. :|I think the argument is that homosexuality introduces another sexual dynamic and should be separated like men and women are. I don't see the reason why they should even be separated. What, too homophobic to take a shower but would let them bandage up your crotch when you get shrapnel in your groin? Separating them would be like when they had black-only regiments and purposely sent them on suicide and completely pointless missions. They will fight the same so they deserve the same treatment and can serve under the same units as straight solders.[QUOTE="Ezgam3r"]DADT is pointless IMO. I don't support it. It makes no sense to stop men and women from serving their country over something as trivial as sexuality.
