I bet moviegoers today would have still been talking about how the Matrix is far superior than the entire Star Wars saga (Just like in the 99) if they never did. And people would have wear Matrix outfit at Comic Con annually without feeling embarassed.

I love both Star Wars and Matrix franchises, but it's sad to see that the Matrix keeps fading away every year due to the massive damage done by the sequels.

Yeah, the story of the original matrix was great, the other 2 were just fanservice that pulled the series down. They shouldn't have been made.

I enjoyed them, despite some odd flaws.

I loved 2003, between those two and ROTK it was a fantastic year. The hype, the excitement... it was great.

Revolutions could have been better... A lot better, but Reloaded was great. I don't get the hate towards it.

While the films are fairly bad, I still fun to watch from time-to-time. The first is the best, but none of them are really that GREAT imo.

ive seen the first sequel. but not the final of the trilogy. I just watch the original :) but I agree, the original matrix is better than star wars is "on average" HOWEVER, Empire wins.

Generally the original is always better in any series but I still think that the sequels have their place.

I personally enjoyed all of them but I can see your point...

I enjoyed Reloaded enough to see it in theaters multiple times, but the last fifth or so of Revolutions soured everything for me. Even though I understand what the point of it all was and stuff, that doesn't mean I have to like it.

They were not bad, just terrible short of the original.

They were far from the worst sequels. Have you see the Highlander sequels.

I do. These movies lacked all of the originality, creativity, and integrity of the first movie. They were made primarily to milk the series for every penny that consumers were willing to pay for those two god-awful atrocities of sci-fi ****. Yeah I hated them and wished they had never happened.

No, I don't think so. As much as I didn't like the direction of the other two films I think they were very important to the conclusion of the trilogy. It's an extremely metaphorical movie and to be left as just the matrix would do it a great injustice.

Seeing is how the first Matrix is my favorite movie of all time, then yes. But I did like some of the fighting scenes in Reloaded, and the final fight in Revolutions.

The sequels never bothered me, mostly because I've never bothered to watch them . I got what I needed out of the first one, and that's good enough for me. They could make 20 more and I'm still not sure I'd ever watch them.

Well, I thought Reloaded was OK, if only to see Neo kicking ass. But then Revolutions was horrifically bad in every way. So it sort of ruined it. But The Matrix was an awesome movie, probably one of the best sci-fi movies ever, second only to Blade Runner in my opinion.

But it could be worse, they weren't the WORST sequels ever. That crown goes to Godfather 3.

I think wearing a Matrix outfit in any situation is fundamentally embarrassing anyway, with or without the sequals. The Matrix was already pretty dated when it came out (techno, cyberpunk anime, martial arts and all that).

(just to add, I realise the irony of saying this with a Sonic character in my avatar)

Very much so, they almost make the first worse now, which is sad. I like the way the first ended and there really was no need for a second or third.

No, I don't. Everyone has their own "tastes" in film, music, etc. Just because I liked those Matrix movies, it doesn't mean I have "bad tastes" in movies. Go be ignorant elsewhere.

Reloaded, though far below the original, was still worth it for the Smith fight scene and the freeway chase.

I didn't even watch Revolutions.

Enjoyed Reloaded very much, probably my fav out of the whole triology. I understood the whole ending of Revolutions, but I was expecting something more from Neo outside of the matrix. They are good movies regardless.

I don't know why people treat the sequels as if they were utter garbage while the first one was some sort of cinematic triumph. I've never had the bias against the sequels, and when I went back to watch all three movies a couple months ago I thought they all had poor acting and writing. The only reason people think the first movie was great is because back in 1999 everyone was too captivated by the special effects to notice how bad the rest of the movie was.
