ok, i was watching the historychannel about a doomsday theory on Dec. 21, 2012. apparently on this particular day, the center of the galaxy will be aligned withour sun, earth, and moon at the same time. its like an eclipse that is very rare and only happens every 25,800 years. and the gravity or somethingis supposed to shift the mantle of the earth, which will change the postion of the equator and cause devastating effects like climate change, earthquakes on every continent, floods, storms etc.

the show was able to back up there theory with predictions from oracles in ancient roman times who predicted rulers of the roman empire 200 years before they were born! they also predicted wars between the romans and germanic tribes, and also who would be victorious. their also predicted a dramatic change of the planet on December 21, 2012 or the end of the world.

another group of people predicted doomsday on Decemebr 21, 2012. These people were the Mayans(Ancient South Americans). they had this very accurate calendar that they used to predict things like when the first white skins or British would arrive in South America. and they predicted correctly.(i don't remeber the exact date but it was like March 5, 15??) they also predicted that the end of the world would happen in the 21st century.....Decmeber 21, 2012. link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ash_5a_37-w - this is only a clip of the show i saw on thehistory channel.

So enough of these ancient predictions,...how about some modern predictions of 12/21/12. Scientists in America have used web-bots(originally used to predict stock market trends) to predict global disasters, and it worked. web-bots predicted the destruction of Hurricane Katrina, the Tsunami in the South-East, and earthquakes in Japan. it was also used to predict this so-called doomsday on Dec. 12, 2012. and it has been announced not only by scientists in America, but around the world have calculated that the center of the galaxy, the sun, and the equator of the earth, and the moon, will be aligned. but it is unsure how this rare phenomenon will effect earth.

and i'm guessing that people will be saying "didn't everyone go crazy about Y2K, yet nothing happened?" well what if for the first time this is true? Y2K was about man-made apocalypse like nuclear weapons and computer failures. 12/21/12 involves the alignment of the galaxy, sun, earth and moon.

I usually don't believe in this kind of stuff, and i'm not a hippy or something, but it gives me shivers just thinking that the world might end in 4 years.

what are your thoughts on this theory?

EDIT: i don't expecteveryone to believe this theory, just how some people may ormay not believe in man-made global warming or aliens or 911 conspiracies. so if you don't believe this then that is fine.

they're just predictions that have a chance of being true. you don't have to believe it. i don't expect everyone to believe this theory.

1) If it happened 25,800 years ago, wouldn't the Earth have been destroyed, 25,800 years ago?

2) The Romans predicted that their country would go to war with their neighbors? You mean their country, always on the expanse, would someday try to ....EXPAND? I should become a fortune teller

3) Hm... idk about them Mayans. Nothing witty to say here.

4) If scientists predicted those disasters, why was there no effort to prevent all the loss of life beforehand? I'm sure there would be a huge hoopla if scientists HAD KNOWN about ALL THOSE DISASTERS far ahead of time and did nothing.

1.) um...were humans living on the planet 28 500 years ago...No. this phenomenon effects nature, and nature effects us. so 28 500 years ago, it didn't matter because no one was really in danger. no intelligent beings lived back then. and this doomsday theory doesn't destroy the planet, it just destroys whats on the planet.

2.) of course they went to war, but they predicted when it would happen like exact dates. countries always go to war. its the fact that predicting when it will happen is the point i tried to make.

3.) if your just trying to be witty, and a pain in the @$$, then gtfo.

4.) the didn't do anything because they were predictions. and they would find it unneccessary to prevent something that wasn't entirely proven.

If it destroys what's on the planet, then that would've set back evolution another million or so years. By that time, we were already close to being "created."

maybe i shouldn't have said it destroys everything because there were probably and most-likely survivors. and i'm sure there will be survivors on dec. 21, 2012 because this disaster can't kill all 6.5 billion humans. it just shifts the climate causing mother nature to have her "time of the month."

Im not so concerned about 2012 at this time.

Eventually it will, actually. After its life expires, Mr. Sun is not our friend (catch the damn reference).

Yes. I know sun will die one day, but that may be in something like... 5,000 million years. So, I don't think WE should be concerned about it.

There's absolutely no reason to consider this doomsday prediction as any more credible than any of the other thousands of doomsday predictions throughout the centuries.

[QUOTE="Jayesler12"]

ok, i was watching the historychannel about a doomsday theory on Dec. 21, 2012. apparently on this particular day, the center of the galaxy will be aligned withour sun, earth, and moon at the same time. its like an eclipse that is very rare and only happens every 25,800 years. and the gravity or somethingis supposed to shift the mantle of the earth, which will change the postion of the equator and cause devastating effects like climate change, earthquakes on every continent, floods, storms etc.

the show was able to back up there theory with predictions from oracles in ancient roman times who predicted rulers of the roman empire 200 years before they were born! they also predicted wars between the romans and germanic tribes, and also who would be victorious. their also predicted a dramatic change of the planet on December 21, 2012 or the end of the world.

another group of people predicted doomsday on Decemebr 21, 2012.

Krazy_duck

Wow, very observant. All of us should have seen that before we posted lol

So how much does the galaxy, sun, moon, and earth change in 4 years? The sun moon and earth align very often, how is the center of the galaxy going to make a difference? Why wont there be any changes a day, or a week before december 21th 2012? I'm sure if the end of life is near, you would know it years before it actually happened.

The earth has survived since it has been created, I dont think it will be distroyed any time soon. Planets are harder to destroy than people think. Life on the other hand is more fragile, but 12/21/12 isnt the day it will end.
