Basically people that think that dragonforce is overrated havent understood why, they did single handedly revitalize speed metal, brought back that 80's sounding metal singing(which I personally despise) Just because there song was popularized thorugh Guitar hero doesnt make them overrated. People jsut think its hard on guitar hero. I like listening to it personally, though revolution deathsquad has better metal sound and vocals, but if you think they lack musical talent, go ahead and have somebody whip out a dragonforce solo on guitar and they'll more than likely say f that. Herman Li is great. Me gusta ttfaf.

You want good technical speed metal, listen to Cacophony. Pick up an album called "Speed Metal Symphony."

I never knew speeding up tracks in the studio was considered revitalizing.

Dragonforce can play (I've seen them live), but their lyrics are pitifully bad.

Wow. Uhh... no...

Even though I, personally, do quite like DragonForce (their earlier stuff at least), their are a lot better Power Metal bands out there. Oh, and it's Power Metal, not Speed Metal. What they do is nothing new, nor is it the best. They just seem to have gotten fairly big and almost into the mainstream (which is why I'm guessing 1. you know about them and 2. you only know of the Inhuman Rampage album).

I've also seem them live twice myself, they definately can play well, and are definately good. However, Inhuman Rampage in no way compared to anything from Valley of the Damned or Sonic FireStorm.

"Speed Metal" as we know it should've died after Cacophony. Everyone else sucks. No one in that area can write good songs anymore.

Dragonforce didn't do anything except nerd-gasmic "epic songs". Seriously though, Dragonforce is a joke. They blow.

sorry bout not talking for a bit gamespot forums down? but ive seen it classified as speed metal too, and yes I have heard the Valley of the damned album too, prefer Inhuman, I just cant stop loving that insane guitar. It does sound nerdy, but speed metal sounds weird like that... Ive seen power metal too, but speed metal was dead until dragonforce came around.

Uh.. ok.

Speed metal is a mixture of NWOBHM and 70's punk, and was played almost exclusively in the early 80's by bands that would later evolve into thrash metal. While elements of speed metal can be found in power and thrash metal, it is a dead genre.

I don't think they revised speed metal. Where do you get this information?
