http://io9.gizmodo.com/judge-dredd-is-getting-his-very-own-live-action-tv-show-1795092525

"Entertainment Weekly reports that the character will be the star of a new live-action, ensemble drama called Judge Dredd: Mega City One. The show is in "early development" and "talent will be announced at a later date." What we do know is that that IM Global and games studio Rebellion are teaming up for it, and the people at those companies helped develop Battlestar Galactica, Helix, and the 2012 Karl Urban-starring Dredd film."

Excite?

I was always hoping for a sequel of the movie... but maybe this will do if they do it well enough.

the recent movie caught me off guard, was a pleasant surprise.

"...and the people at those companies helped develop Battlestar Galactica, Helix, and the 2012 Karl Urban-starring Dredd film."

I love everything about that sentence.

@mrbojangles25: Question is, can they get Karl Urban to reprise his role as Dredd? If so, I'll definitely watch. If not, I'll take a wait-and-see approach.

I remembering reading from Karl Urban he wanted to continue with Dredd for awhile now but here is the article on Denver Comic Con 2016 that he talk about making Dredd 2 and also the T.V series: Denver Comic Con 2016: Karl Urban Confirms ‘Dredd 2′ Is In Development

One would hope; I am a huge Karl Urban fan. I can't really tell you why, either. He lends a very serious tone to every role he takes, like a natural badass, just not someone to mess with...but not in a Samual L. Jackson kind of "I'm a BAMF and I talk big then kick ass" way. More like he just simply...is.

He was great in Riddick, awesome as Bones in the new Star Trek films, great in the LOTR movies (despite being a minor role), and was great as Dredd.

Be nice if Olivia Thirlby returned as well, she worked well alongside him.

@davillain-: he later stated that sequel plans were discussed, but nothing was happening.

Honestly, that sequel is simply not going to happen. At least there's a show to look forward to, so there's that.

The Raid, The Raid Redemption, and Dredd 3D were all amazing.

I do not care if people copy of any of them as long as the final product is amazing.

With that being said, the script of Dredd3d was done well before Raid came out.

Keep it gritty like the movie, but closer to black humor of the comics.

I'd love to see a sequel to the film but it bombed hard at the BO and I doubt even a strong DVD following could warrant another one. I think TV is as good as we'll get.

@uninspiredcup: If the can't make his return happen, then they need to let this project go.

Dredd is Karl Urban. And that is the end of it.

It would be nice, but I don't think it's necessity. It's an ensemble cast as well, which kinda makes sense, in the movie and comic Dredd is usually a conduit for another character (namely Anderson). Part of the problem with the Sylvester Stallone movie is that they attempted to humanize him with a face, backstory and love interest. Remember how in in Dredd they make it a specific point to hint at something but otherwise avoid going into detail? That's not to say the actor isn't important ofc.

On another note I read Judge Dredd: Dark Justice the other day via Kindle at a refresher and it was really good, read somewhere the the movies intended to introduce the Judge Death with sequels so here's hoping they are done well in whatever happens with this show.
