Dubstep was great a few years back when there wasn't a bunch of 14 year old emo scene raver girls running around with their pacifiers and mali saying 'lol omg dubstep rusko is amazing!' I was showing people real dubstep years ago when I discovered it and they said it was ****. Now they want to be dubstep. Or at least what they think is dubstep. Its just a scene now and dubstep is turning into mainstream rap. And ugh rusko is just terrible. Especially his new cd.

Just looked it up and all I can say is that stuff can't touch rap, not even the rap they play on the radio. Fortunately, I've never heard of it till now and I hope it's just a phase.

Dubstep a phase? Naw not for me at least, I love putting my stereo to work on a daily baisis. Rusko is horrid and the only Chace and Status tune I can actually stand to listen to is Madhouse remixed by Dead Money.

dubstep is pretty good music to chill out too. It's usually what I have playing when I'm surfing the internet. I don't really understand how people dance to it though. I've seen very few people that don't look incredibly awkward while dancing to it, and yes rusko sucks.

Dubstep is a phase and it sucks. People are obsessed with it right now but it will pass, same thing happened with that whole Drum n Bass phase right before the Dubstep one. Hear anyone going "OMG dnb is da s***" anymore? Didn't think so.

Dubstep is great, but it requires patience and a meticulous nature for the artists to be any good, it seems. Burial still pulls it off, so there's no way it's not music, and not good music.

The UK electronic scene seems to do this alot. It happened with Jungle, Drum and Bass, Garage and now Dubstep. Its going to reach a point of over-saturation and then lose popularity to the next big thing. It won't die off completely but you'll see more artists doing it for the love of the genre.

I doubt that, in 50 years, people of a new generation will be listening to dubstep (or anything else released today) in anything like the numbers of new people are discovering. for example, Pink Floyd - people whos PARENTS weren't even born when the band was in its most popular days. Of course most people start out with something catchy like "The Wall", but a few of those move on and discover great lyrics, wonderfully orchestrated songs, and how many variations there can be on the theme of your original lead singer going one stop past barking.

As a musician, it would be utterly ignorant of me to say that it's not music. In my opinion, though, it's absolutely terrible, and it does seem like something that's going to hit a huge popularity spike and then drop off the face of the planet.

I agree with most of what you said, but I have to say that there is no Pink Floyd song called "The wall." "Another Brick in the Wall", parts 1 2 and 3, yes, but not "The Wall."

That's an absolutely amazing album though. I'm 17.

I sure as hell hope not. It's like disco, except 100 times worse.

Although I must say, Rasputinby Boney M is fantastic.

Can't watch it right now, but I'll check it out sometime.

The thing about dubstep, I like some of the techno elements to it. It's jsut that the bass thing... no.

Like, I heard a dubstep remix of Gerudo valley. The techno part was pretty neat. It's just when the bass kicked in that I drew the line.

IMO, nothing can only be a "phase". For most people some things always gets old after a while and they will move on. But if you like it enough, you'll most likley always have a love for that "genre", in this case, Dubstep. Anyways, what's Rusko?

I like the dubstep in the Assassin's Creed commercials...and this song, but I don't go out my way to listen the genre.

Sure, it's music.
