Duke Nukem Live Action Movie?? Would you want it?

Here me out, I think a Duke Nukem movie would be great IF DONE CORRECTLY!!! It would have to be a self aware, semi-cheesy Sci-fi action that mocks games and sci fi action movie cliches. (think of Army of Darknesses approach on action horror, its less serious, has humor, but its still badass). Basically I think Army of Darkness would be a great template for Duke, just replace the horor with sci-fi. Army of Darkness has a campy horror premise, but the character's badassery, humor, coolness, and one-liner-spewing is the focus of the film.

Specifics:

Director-Sam Raimi (makes sense with my Army of Darkness comparison)

Actor for Duke Nukem--- Alan Ritchson (Thad Castle from Blue Mountain State, big, blonde haired guy who's already familiar with playing a roided up meathead, and is funny...as long as he could do the voice, I think he's ideal).

Come on! Dye his hair light blonde, slap on some sunglasses and a red tank top, and tell me that ISN'T Duke!!

Premise: A somewhat campy, self-aware plot using and mocking sci-fi action cliches, as well as game plot cliches, and just parodying game plots outright.

Rough Example: Funny scene in the beginning where an obvious Commander Shephard parody confronts the aliens all serious and intense, and hilariously gets owned (IDK maybe literally b*tch-smacked by hulking alien). There would also have to be plenty of hilarious/cool one-liners by Duke.

Maybe it's just something that is correlative and not specifically related, but the outcome of a movie based off a game, or vice versa, is usually poor.

No. Duke Nukem is too 90's for this generation to understand. And I don't see how it could possibly work without it being too campy and lame.

Would I watch it ? Yep. Will it be a good experience ? I highly doubt it but ill be laughing in embarrassment the whole way.

They never made one back when Duke Nukem 3D was huge, why would they make one now?

During the 1980s...sure, it would have been a good testosterone-filled laugh.

Somehow I just don't think it would be a good idea to make a Dukem Nukem movie. but I did buy Dukem Nukem Forever when the game came out and have no regrets on doing so, and chances are I would probably end up watching it anyway. Probably rental at best.

So what if its not the 90's anymore? Anyone who's seen an action flick from that era will understand the context. You guys have a ridiculous hatred of Duke. DNF was a dissappointment but it wasn't terrible. It was dated and didn't live up to expectatinos, but it was decent old school fun.

It would of been popular in the way the Evil Dead trilogy was. So horrid and campy in such a good way. That said those movies did not hold up well and although they were bad then at least they were entertaining, now they are just bad. Go back in time and release it back then and you may be onto something.

Maybe, most game/film adaptations are not pretty bad, take for instance that time they made Mortal Kombat into a movie...
