My friend told me today that a big wig CEO guy who teaches his marketing class was saying that in 10 years he believes there will no longer be any retail stores or grocery stores, everything will be done online. My friend and I both work at grocery stores. I told my friend that the professor makes no sense at all. They have grocery stores online now, no one uses them. They have tons of places you can purchase things online from, yet people still shop in stores. Stores will never close, malls will never close, people won't shop exclusively online, it'll never happen, period. Anyways what's your take? Do you think in 10 years there will be no more grocery stores or retail stores and everything will be done via the internet?

E-commerce will never fully eliminate brick and mortar stores. The reason is that people like to get hands on, especially in the grocery industry. I do not want anyone picking my produce for me.

The day that people are buying milk online instead of a store is the day that the world comes to and end. Hundreds of people go to Grocery Stores every day, I seriously doubt that will change anytime soon.

Many people choose to shop in person instead of online because of an actual interest in heading out to do something among other reasons, of course. I'm thinking this guy is only hoping for something like that to happen.

+2.50 to check for scars and bruises on fruit

Yep, sounds a lot like "Nobody will ever need more than 640k RAM!" (said a very long time ago) Ironically it was said by the, now, richest man in the world...

No way. He's probably a tech ceo that would like to see it go that way, but he fails to realize (most) humans are social beings that like to do some things in the real world as opposed to living online

It makes sense. Some pizza places (pizza huts around here) REQUIRE you to order online. An automated grocery service could easily do be great. Saves gas money and you don't have to get up. Digital lists can automatically remember your essentials, your history, and makes shopping easier.
