Blu-Ray, now that the price on them has come way down. $12 is so much more reasonable for a Blu-Ray than $30.
I really want blu-ray but I can't afford to buy movies. I might get a blu-ray player just for Avatar...
Still too early for Blu-Ray, gonna be using DVDs for the next couple years.xTheExploitedSame, I'll wait for the prices to come down before I bother with Bluray.
Blu-Ray. No room for comparison, if you seriously think that DVD is better than you need your eyes checked. Silent-HalEh, I don't think we're comparing the quality (because there is no debate here) of picture, just saying which version we watch.
I'd rather rent movies or watch them online. it's a lot cheaper to spend a couple bucks on a movie when you're renting it instead of paying 4 or 5 times that price just to own it and watch it once and then never watch it again unless you're a person than can actually watch the same movie over and over again.
PS3 Blu-ray PLAYER. The only blu-ray discs I will buy are the LOTR Extended editions, and some of the movies I truly love.
I got District 9 on BD for cheaper than the 2 disc DVD set from best buy lol.KurushioYeah I've heard that with quite a few movie releases that they're making the Blu-Ray versions cheaper than the DVD ones... On top of that, companies like Disney are including a DVD copy of their movies WITH the Blu-Ray versions... I think it goes to show that the movie industry is really trying hard to convert everyone over to Blu-Ray. Honestly, if people still don't want to go Blu-Ray even though it's cheaper with a DVD copy with it for free, then I don't know what will make them give up on DVD.
Is this a serious question? That's like choosing between VHS an DVD, the quality difference between the two are so far apart, once you see a movie in Bluray you'll never want to go back to that old technology called DVD.
Anything is possible on Bluray, all they have to do is convert it...but you won't see much difference in quality because they didn't film in HD back then.Both.
Some things aren't possible on Blu-ray anyway (such as TV stuff made in the 80's etc.)

for horror movies i prefer dvd's,sometimes blu-rays have very clear picture and it ruins the atmosphere for me,For all the rest blu ray

Well that's what I meant. And they did film in 35mm film, but edited on video (unllike the 70s where they edited the actual film, meaning a Blu-ray could be made.)
I don't really care to be honest but I still buy DVD's as it's cheaper then Blu Ray movies then again I'm one of those people who usually watches a movie once then never watches it again certain movies I'll watch again though.
and as rapidly as our technology is growing we will very soon find a way to convert movies made in the 80s into true hd. MaddogQ80
Nonsense. The only way would be to get all the unedited 35mm film (if it hadn't been thrown away) and reedit everything all over again. I doubt this would be done as it would be too costly.
* I'm talking about TV shows here, not movies (they are already in HD.)
blu-ray for everything. Using DVD still is like hooking up my PS3 to a tv made in the 80s. Sure I could use it and it'd be functional but why?
Especially when the difference is so big. And thankfully the price for blu-rays have dropped tremendously and they don't all cost 30 bucks now. Amazon makes sure of that :)
Blu-Ray is obviously the superior format. But I'm not nearly tempted to drop a load of cash on a player, or movies, as they are far more expensive than DVD's at the moment. In a few years maybe...
Still too early for Blu-Ray, gonna be using DVDs for the next couple years.xTheExploitedsame. i like the slightly better resolution. but i can honestly live w/o it. especially when it comes to the extra money u gotta throw towards blu-ray players and disks.
thats nonsense  I actually have Monster Inc on DVD and the quality is of the last picture..
Brutal_Elitegs
I personally will not buy another DVD with blu ray out. That being said, I don't buy alot of movies anyways.

Although an upconverted DVD does indeed look better than that first picture posted, it is not as good as the second blu-ray pic. Come on, let's not get silly here.
You my actually need glasses (seriously.)
or maybe its because i havent played the movie in a while. But i can tell you for a fact, the first image is BS when its said to be DVD.
