Ear Piercings on Guys

Hey OT whats happening. Anyways, I'm a 16 year old, asian/white male and was considering getting my ear pierced. I know its not the most abnormal thing to do but am a little nervous about the reactions I may get. It may also be a little hard to convince my parents. thoughts?

Hey man I'm a 20 year old guy and I've had my left ear pierced for 2 years now... Nobody ever says anything to me about it, and If they do, it's always "hey you got your ear pierced". Go for it man... as long as the rents let you

I'd like to do it myself, something discreet yet good-looking.

Most people wont find ear piercings negative unless they're flashy as HELL. As for your parents, you're on your own there. I personally don't do it because everybody else does, it's not realy original anymore.

I absolutely wouldn't, but if you think it's your thing then w/e. I'd get a clip on at least first to see if it makes you look stupid or not.

Ear piercings only look good on some guys, as long as it's done tastefully. You might want to do what someone else suggested and try a clip-on first.

As for your parents, just ask them. Tell them you wouldn't be getting anything too flashy, and that you wouldn't do anything without their consent. There's really nothing more you can do about that. I guess you could say f*** them and get it anyways, but I think that's a pretty foolish and immature thing to do. I asked my parents if I could get a monroe piercing, or a tattoo on the inner heel of my foot. They sad no to both, at least not while I'm under their roof. I have no bitterness towards that decision though, because between that time and now I can critically think about whether I really want one or not. And who's to know, maybe one of us will actually change our mind :P

I really think it only looks good on some guys.

In the end you should do what really makes you happy. Go for it if you're certain about it. It doesn't really matter what other people think about it.

Personally, I don't like piercings on guys. I don't know about other girls though.

I don't have a problem with piercings, in fact I think they quite hawt :oops:

But I really don't understand when guys get both ears pierced and then wear diamond earrings :? I'm sorry but it makes me think of little girls. I just can't help it.

gauge em out and its a good choice. not huge gauges. bout the size of a pencil is good. i myself have a lip piercing. my mom flipped. BUT im 21 and dont live at home so there really isnt anything she can do. really your parents cant do much about it. just do it anyway

Also, guys will say they don't like it, but (fashionable, thus preener) girls will often say they like it. Lots of girls have said they like it, and I have purple studs just to stick out. Peacock theory my friend. Perd1t1on

The "Real Masculine MEN" on this site will tell you they look feminine. The others will tell you to do it. Decide for yourself. Get them pierced, and if you don't like them, take them out.

The nice thing that piercings have over tattoos is the fact that a piercing is easily remedied.

When all those hardcore men on this site get stuck with a southern rebel flag tattoo on their arm for the rest of their lives, they can think about how much they want it gone when they're older.

One way to pull off the look with piercings is to let them be part of your personality, one way to do so is to treat them as such. Look for a design that looks like 'you,' if you can't find any then piercings are probably not your style. I personally like hoops and hinge earrings, preferably in black or silver.

You've got to be the type who can pull it off. You need the right hair style and face shape, otherwise it'll look naff. Maybe try and edit a piercing into a photo and see how it looks.
