Its sad... but it probably is a risk to turn out the light, in this day and age.
O yeah... this thread has been done before...
ive already missed it. i had my ps3, laptop, lights, and tv running. oh, and i turned the heat on and opened the window.
No. In fact, I'm going to pollute five times as much as normal.SmashBrosLegendThis. This, ladies and gentleman, is a true man.
Ironically, Google has turned to a black background for this event.
However, given that most people are using LCD flat-panel monitors, a black google actually consumes more energy than a white google.
An LCD flat-panel consumes the most possible energy that it can while displaying black because LCD cells require a full charge to twist themselves to a point that blocks out light.
With a white background, an LCD monitor has to admit 0 charge to display white because "wide open" is their natural stance. The backlight to an LCD monitor is always on and the colors we see are determined by how "open" the cells are within the monitor. Black = taking the most charge, White = no charge required.
Google fails...as well as Blackle.
I turned on a 500W heat lamp for long enough to balance out the power saved by the rest of the county..ferrari2001

I made a thread about this yesterday encouraging people to boycott Earth Hour but it was locked by the PC fascist liberals. (Paradox? I think not!)
I of course will be using as much energy as possible. Take that liberals and Africans!
Obscene Consumerism FTW!

You've taken the bait.
It's not a matter of left and right but a matter of personal freedom. Stand up for your rights and ignore the propaganda that the media desires to permeate your life.

What bait? It's a case of learning to save as much energy as possible and pardon me if I'm wrong but it seems as though everyone on the right makes it a policy to ignore global warming as PC liberal chit-chat and not alter their behaviour concerning energy consumption.

The bait is the fact that you belive this is a polarizing issue. Something that defines the left and the right. Clearly the right is not supposed to win the next election because the left clearly has "the answer."
Before long, global warming will be the cause of taxes the removes the freedomes from your everyday life. You'll no longer have a choice and your decisions will not be left to you because someone will have determined that your actions are either left-leaning or right-leaning.

Exactly my point, it shouldn't be polarizing. There is a problem, there is a solution. However certain people out their feel it is an attack on their "personal liberties and freedoms", their "right" to waste energy. It's stubborn and immature. Just swallow it and do what you have to do for the benefit of the planet. You'll save some friggin money in the process, if that isn't an incentive then I don't know what the hell is.
I did not take part in it because I knew about it too late. Alas. Although I did notice Google's Earth Day layout earlier in the day.Aquat1cF1shit doesnt matter what time you do it at  anyways i did it. everything even the ac. why the hell not? i would have just been on gs, gaming or watching tv
i heard some fireworks, and also someone behind me just revving an electric drill.. damn hes cool...
