I've lived on the East Coast my whole life. Most parts are pretty depressing and unremarkable. Also, part of the East Coast is The South. Even though I've never been there, I'd have to say that the West Coast is better.
I don't live on a coast (though I live in the west), and I can't decide which I like better because I like certain places on both coasts. My first instinct was east, because everything is so close together and there is so much US history, and given the choice of where to visit I would choose east, but at the same time Oregon is my favorite state.
