Because time doesn't mean anything! It's just an ''idea'' created by humans! Celebrating Easter every year is like... celebrating Easter every 100 steps. It could aswell have been every 2.38576 years and it would be the sam thing. Time isn't an ''official'' law of nature or something... it's just a concept. So basically, religious people should celebrate Easter only when they feel like it... Timesplitter14
Yeah it may not mean anything to any other species out there but it does mean something to us that we created. Not having a sense of time would make things a lot harder to do in the world. Think about it, if we didn't have time you would be lost. And since we have time that cycles because of the Earth revolving around the sun and revolvoing on its axis we have the years, months and days.
So when it comes to Christmas which was the day Jesus was born we celebrate it, when it is Easter, the day Jesus rose from the dead, we celebrate it. They have meaning and there is concept. We are capable of a thought process and we use it. You can go live in that imaginary world of yours and try and be a philosopher if you want and we will be doing what we have been doing for years to come. Time wasn't made up randomly there actually was a process behind it.

As for me I'll use this time to relax and spend some quality time with family and friends. Were humans anyway and not robots.

So we shouldn't celebrate anyone's birthday, the Fourth of July, Veteran's Day, or anything? You make a good point. :roll:the_foreign_guy
that's right.

Don't get me wrong, I like these holidays, but the day we celebrate them just don't mean anythingTimesplitter14
I think sometimes we just need to sit back and turn our brains off. If you analyse anything too much, it will seem pointless. Just relax and enjoy the ride ^_^
you obiously no nothing about what easter is supposed to be.....BEAN_LARD_MULCH
I'm not criticising Easter! I'm criticising the DAY we celebrate it.

once again you must be atheist. cuz u dont seem to know the story and why that sertain day is importantare u kidding me? dont you know the story of the bible? im asuming that you are atheist, cuz if you were religious like everyone should be then you might have a little more gratitude towards easter and christmas, not just candy and presents (which are great). to tell you the truth i think you could affend people writing this topic.MGShacker
oh boy...
- ''if you were religious like everyone should be'' Sorry but I'm against self-slavery  And I can think by myself
- ''have a little more gratitude towards easter and christmas'' Ok... why? If God is so generous, then why would he put you in Hell if you don't do a little sacrifice everytime the Earth does a revolution around the sun after Jesus died?
- I'm not even bashing Easter...

God gave people a choice? ''Be my slave or go to Hell!!!'' Yeah.... what a choice...
sorry but for me, God has as much chances to exist as a giant dancing turkey in space
If God isn't a selfish, power-hungry tyrant, he'll accept me in heaven (if I'm a good guy)
-
god gave people a choice.sounds like the concentration camp analogy.
either belive in him. or believe in whatver u want.
god takes the ones that belive in him to heaven.
leaves the ones who dont belive in him, but if they were amazingly nice and good people... they might have a chance of getting into heaven,
im not trying to be a pastor or anything but really watch your mouth about god buddyMGShacker

Celebrations like these unite people together, wich is a good thing.

of course, holidays and birthdays are great, but they just mean that the Earth made one revolution around the sun.... That doesn't mean we must stop celebrating

Each can find his own meaning, I think that the day on wich the celebration occurs is "one revolution around the sun", the celebration itself has a more sentimenal meaning. You are not celebrating the day something special happend, you are celebrating the special thing that happend on that day =)
If you were to delve into it a little more, you would find that the cornerstone of Christianity is Jesus' resurection, so it would be stupid not to celebrate it for Christians, the same goes for Christmas with his birth. It's really more of an aniversary type thing. Jhonie_Fklits25
Most people here don't get my point. I'm not saying that christians shouldn't celebrate Easter, I'm saying that celebrating these holidays THE SAME DAY EVERY YEAR is meaningless since time is just a concept.

Easter isn't celebrated the same day every year, though.[QUOTE="Timesplitter14"][QUOTE="Jhonie_Fklits25"]If you were to delve into it a little more, you would find that the cornerstone of Christianity is Jesus' resurection, so it would be stupid not to celebrate it for Christians, the same goes for Christmas with his birth. Time isn't just an idea created by humans. It's a stateable fact.
One year=One revolution of the earth we walk on around the sun. And tommorrow, we celebrate easter. And when the earth is at this same point around the sun the next time, we celebrate Easter.
Ok, it's not really because Easter day changes all the time in accordance with the moon... but it's a measureable fact.
Think of Christmas. When it's Dec 25th, we celebrate Christmas. And the next time the earth is at the that point around the sun (the following year) we celebrate it again.
Dates and Time are essentially measurements of where with are around the sun. Time is facts.
With that said, we SHOULD celebrate these dates.
LOL :DListen we get chocolate and gifts dont ruin this for everyone or so help me GOD I WILL RIP OUYT YOUR TONGUE AND FEED IT THE Prairie Dogs!!!!

Yes but why should we celebrate it at that point? Shouldn't religious people just think about it all the time? And besides, some emperors of the Roman empire f***** up all the dates so maybe we're September 25, 1948...
