If you pay attention then its known to be easy. But sometimes even though you pay attention and you get home its super confusing :? Almost everybody hates math. And their answer is, because it's hard.Well why is math hard :D

It's not that hard. When you get into calculus, it might get a little confusing but staying later/getting tutoring will clear it up.
because teachers give ZERO physical insight into how higher level maths are used. as soon as you hit physics, it all makes perfect sense. maths really arent difficult in the proper context.
trust me. i got a D in algebra II, teacher sucked and i hated her. got an A in advanced engineering mathematics, because i knew how everything was being used
Its not hard... it just makes you crazy... A Beautiful Mindis a true story.
Math clearly makes you insane.
I hate maths so much, you finally solve the method of doing something....great now lets take it a level above, it never seems to end in complexity. I think you need the right mind to be good at or enjoy maths. More left brained (logic) instead of right brained (creative).
I did not find it hard at all...though that might have something to do with me teaching it :PrawsavonImpossibly, you just got hotter :o
I love math but i guess thats why im studying to be an actuary(I doubt anyone even knows what that is).
Its difficulty varies by person. I find the subject incredibly easy, yet manages to not be boring. I'm pretty sure that my vector class will be my least demanding class this semester, including gen-eds.
Math isn't hard. It's probably the subject with the most defined rules and laws out there, which makes it preposterously easy to score well on it if you have good concentration skills.
Arithmetic is easy. I hated maths when it stopped being about numbers.SolidSnake35
That's where I went from liking it to loving it.

Math is always about numbers. Do you mean constants?
Math is about numbers like astronomy is about telescopes.
Well, once you get to things like topology and model theory, it can be hard to find the numbers :P[QUOTE="GabuEx"][QUOTE="OOOOhhhhh"]

Hmmm, I'm going to have to consider if I agree with that; let me get on my pondering hatI found math to be one of the easiest subjects of all in school and college. It's logical, makes sense, and you can see the reasoning behind everything you're doing, especially when you get to higher levels.
I always hated concepts where you were just told to 'take our word for it', or 'that's just the way it is'. :x
I had the time of my life when I finally started taking number theory and I saw, for my self, why many of the concepts that I was supposed to assume to be true were finally proven without a doubt before me.

Hmmm, I'm going to have to consider if I agree with that; let me get on my pondering hatWell to expand on that thought a bit more, I would say that math at its purest essence is a system through which the natural world is abstracted such that it can be studied, such that additional information about it may be discovered given initial assumptions, and such that parts that are very difficult to conceptualize may be made more manageable. Numbers are simply one of many such abstractions that enable us to describe things within the universe in a uniform and comparable fashion. Numbers are a key component in the simplest, least abstract form of mathematics whose relevance to the real world is most evident and which requires the least amount of conceptual ability, but they're certainly not what math is "about".
EDIT: I recognize that pure mathematicians will flame the **** out of me for this description of mathematics, though. :P

Same here. Factoring quadratics was way more interesting than adding fractions. Not everyone's brains work in the same ways. We all have our own individual strengths and weaknesses.
Some people are better with logic than others, while some people just don't care about math or put enough effort into learning it and applying it properly.
In all of my years of schooling, I've noticed that math has quite a negative connotation surrounding it. Everybody always groans when you mention it or have to do homework for it, and they feel sorry for you if you have to take advanced math classes. I don't think that the negativity surrounding it has helped or motivated people to want to be good at it either...
Math isn't hard for me really but I am really slow at it somehow, things that take the rest of my class 10 minets to do take me the whole peried, which leaves me felling very mentally inadicuate.
it's usually hard because people had/have a bad teacher or for some reason didn't learn something they needed to learn

I think a big problem with that lies in how it's taught. I love math because I can see how relevant it is to so many things in the real world. Most people, however, I think, don't see that at all. And no wonder, considering that math is generally presented solely in its abstract form, and is only briefly brought in contact with the real world through the occasional word problem.
I find math hard when it's all by itself, but when it is applied to something, I find it very easy. I'm not too great with the abstract I suppose. I think teachers should teach some more "how it works" than just "how to do it." For me at least, if I don't get the why, I can't do it reliably.

In my school everyone hates science and maybe history, I personally like almost all my subjects in one way or another, except gym, I hate gym.
