Thoughts? There has to be more to it than something like "Assange being a Fame Hog".

Obama must have picked up his big stick. Also Assange is a douche, I'll agree there.

Maybe Equador wants their decision to be based on the application itself and not because of Assange having some pull in the situation.

That is a good thing honestly. Now, it is just a matter of getting someone into Moscow's airport and arresting Snowden since that area of the airport is not exactly Russian soil. Still, I don't think Obama will send anyone in there to provoke Putin's ire.

I don't have a problem with whistleblowers, I have a problem with idealogs who breach secrecy laws and turns over secrets that he swore to protect whether he agrees with them or not. He is no different than John Walker.

Even if the government is clearly violating 4th amendment rights? And if you don't see a difference between reporting scandals to newspapers, and reporting them to a private spy agency, then I don't know what to say.

snowden is the lowest form of scum. He would sacrifice the lives of any number of people to get 5 seconds of fame.

most people don't even know what he did, they just go freedom and start jacking off.

I think the govt needs to be more honest with what they do but calling this guy who went into his position to "uncover" secrets a hero is confusing... Dunno how the govt is trying to use propaganda when he is the one who says he has "more revealing information". The guy is blackmailing and if a terrorist organization gets to him the security of this country is in jeopardy

you are in no position to judge it's effectiveness as you don't know what crimes it has stopped.

this program isn't even about stopping domestic terrorism anyway.

but i'm sure you don't care, because anything i say was put in my mouth by the government.

[QUOTE="ThaneKrios28"][QUOTE="frannkzappa"]

but it's ok to blindly believe this guy is a force of justice?

there are two million ways to let it be known the US government were breaking laws (which they weren't) then stealing sensitive information.

it makes me sick how people will ignore everything just to make this man a hero.

fueled-system
again like i said its propaganda from the government. this guy aired out how the gov is spying on americans in the name of national security so wouldnt you think that the government would say anything to basicly fear mongor the people? and yes the guy is a hero because if you believe what the government is doing is good in regards to the whole verizon and email thing than im sorry nothing personal but you are a blind sheep i didnt ok to have my phone or email monitored and i sure as hell dont like being lied to

I think the govt needs to be more honest with what they do but calling this guy who went into his position to "uncover" secrets a hero is confusing... Dunno how the govt is trying to use propaganda when he is the one who says he has "more revealing information". The guy is blackmailing and if a terrorist organization gets to him the security of this country is in jeopardy

dude if hes in cuba or even russia i doubt terrorists will get him. think for a minute here he would have security period also for all we know he could just be messing with the government in regards to that either way we will never know

[QUOTE="ThaneKrios28"][QUOTE="dkdk999"]Can you explain though how the US government breaking the law ? frannkzappa

spying on americans without there knowledge to me is breaking the law. us citiizens cant film or record police without consent so why shouldnt it be the same for us? also what good has this program done? they didnt prevent boston wich btw was domestic terrorisim. they even failed at the nyc attempt at times square for a program that protects americans so far in my eyes has failed miserably

you are in no position to judge it's effectiveness as you don't know what crimes it has stopped.

this program isn't even about stopping domestic terrorism anyway.

but i'm sure you don't care, because anything i say was put in my mouth by the government.

im in no position? my tax dollars go to it so yea i am in a position and who are you to say otherwise?

i suggest you look up what the 4th says.

then look up what snowden claims the government was doing.

it was distasteful and dumb, but not illegal.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." holy sh*t how can you can argue that warrantless surveillance is not violating the 4th? It's right there.

I forgot to put "isn't". oops.

That changes the entire meaning of your question now doesn't it?

Both of you need to understand that the NSA got the required warrants to do what they did. There is no breach of the law and especially there is no breach of the 4th Amendment.

How are we suppose to do anything now? Very little will change. The President basically supports it and AGAIN my problem with Snowden is that he got into his position to basically gather information and he has been using this chance to blackmail the United States. If you think much will change you are living in a fantasy world
