ellen degeneres show wants to use my video..... thats not really mine

i have this video of a cat doing a back flip ontop of a dog, and it only had 3000 views, the owner didnt sign on for 3 months and hes from mexico.

so today i log in and i got a message from a producer from the ellen show and he said i need to talk to the parent/guardian so we can use permission to put it up on the show.

its not really mine but the account i downloaded it off of is from mexico and they signed in 2 months ago. should i do it? how much trouble we talkin here?

EDIT: ok relax girls, sent the guy an email saying "im not the owner i thought you just wanted to steal the video blah lbasdahsldfhadsfasd"

However just hope that it does not become extremely popular after airing otherwise you will be in big trouble.

He is in mexico, he will do nothing but get laughs, if they let lesbiens on tv there

It's not about "trouble", it's about intellectual honesty.

Is the video public domain? If so, they shouldn't even have to ask you if they can use it.

If they have to get your permission, then you have to tell them that you can't give permission since it isn't your video.

That's really what it amounts to. They obviously THINK that it's yours, or else they wouldn't be asking you for permission to use it. But it's NOT yours. So either decline the request entirely, or tell them flat out that it isn't your video and that they shouldn't be asking YOU for permission.

1. They do have ellen in mexico. I go there often and i've watched it a couple of times.

2. He can sue you and the producers of the ellen show.

3. If he sues the ellen show, you're screwed...big time.

4. Prepare to be sued.

Follow these steps to complete failure.

If this is true you will get sued somewhere down the line. If you make money from it you'll be sued, if he sees it on the Ellen show (whatever that is) then he will sue them.. and they will sue you.
