Just wondering, if they cannot predict the time within half a decade of accuracy, how do they know it will come that close to us?

there was a bit of a scare about 5-10 years ago, but then they continued their calculations and decided that it would come close, but it wouldn't hit us. So there's no cause for alarm.

Hey, maybe areyoumad is right and the world will end this month due to the 6 stars forming into a cross over Washington DC or whatever it was. So no need to worry about some asteroid in 2026.

People where all going to die one day maybe in your 80's or maybe tomorrow but why worry about you can't change it. When it's your time ain't a damn thing you can do. I don't worry a bit about dieing.

Don't worry, NASA has already assembled an elite wise-cracking oil-drilling team to fly two shuttles to the asteroid, drill a hole, plant a nuclear device, and make a narrow escape.
