for some reason I started thinking about this book on Friday, so when I got home I dug it out and read it again this weekend. It is such an amazing book. The thought of the movie adaptation makes me cringe, how will they get child actors that can act so mature? Anyway, have any of you read the rest of the series, are they as good as this one? What about other books/series, are there any on the same level?

The sequels are pretty much crap.

I enjoy the occasional Bugger slaughter, though.

In this context though, it refers to a slang name given to aliens in the book.

I really love Orson Scott Card's books (he actually lives only an hour or so away from me!  Never met him, though) And yeah, I thought Children Of The Mind had an interesting concept.  But the sequels don't come anywhere near the original book's coolness.

Anybody else read the newer sequels about Bean and his adventures after Ender left Earth?

I liked the sequels that followed Ender and not the others. I (IMO) thought Hector's Hegemony was crap. And the spin-off they did with how Bean grew up and met Ender was interesting. I don't remember them that well though seeing as I read them in 5th grade/6th grade(Summer :P )
