We give a considerable amount of money to the EU.

For example, most countries take about £100million for fishing purposes, Spain take £1000million.

So im not being naive, it is the FACTS!

I don't know. Do we need the EU? The last attempt at creating a united European power block didn't go too well. :(

England isn't a country. Unless you want it to seceed from the UK. And although I'm not European, the EU isn't exactly a bad thing. Free movement of people/goods/services without tax is a good thing (so I guess you're saving money there,) as is the decreased chance of war within an EU framework (which was exactly why the EEC was created in the first place - to tie France and Germany together to prevent more hosilities. There's also the element of judicial and political cooperation which streamlines things. And, hey, it's not like most of Eastern Europe joined the EU as soon as they could, but I guess that's to steal English money (as it's not like they've screwed over the Eastern Europeans before or anything.)

Then why does the charter which made the United Kingdom refer to 'this union of countries' and why does the government refer to England as 'the only COUNTRY in the united kingdom which failed to meet the year's cancer treatment target' ?

England is a country, Wales is a country. The UK is a union of countries as stated by the charter.

Quote Wikipedia "The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy and unitary state consisting of four countries: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales."

English people themselves refer to England as a country, which it is.

So then why doesn't the UK just be sneaky at say...international football and make a UK national football team, more people = more options. I know they do it with the olympic team >__> cheaters....but why not be consistent? The majority of the world sees England as a country and btw I know some people hate it in the UK but you too are part of Europe, quit trying to break away from it.

Of all the countries in the EU, the UK maintains a good portion of it autonomy. Britain has always been an independent nation with a strong culture and heritage. I think there is a push from a lot of countries in the EU to sort of consolidate/assimilate and I've seen that the UK has resisted that. I dont think they should leave the EU, but I do think they should continue to maintain their separate identity.

Nothing wrong with that all. IF you have excess wealth.. share it! Anyways it's only a matter of time before the European Empire rises up and clashes with the American Empire.

Not that what an American thinks is important here....but I think they should. Better for the country. Course we could start a new union....English speaking only. We'll combine NFL football with...football and take over the world. That gives us UK, US, Australia, and Canada, Ireland as the big 5.:P

UK is more or less on a member trial bases with the EU. Heck, they don't even use the Euro (like every one else).

You have a euroskeptic wing of the party, but those were mostly silenced in Major's premiership and are in a minority. Cameron never will do anything risky like to say he's pulling Britain out of the EU.

You might be able to save on some tax money, but a lot of things will become worse. Those french wines, dutch cheese, german/italian cars etc. will become more expensive, your holiday to europe will be less smooth etc. You could already see the advantage of the collective in the crisis. The pound dropped pretty much 50% I think compared to the euro. When you leave the EU, more things happen than just saving some money. I just think a lot of people that are in favour of leaving the EU don't realize that.

I concur. The United Kingdom by itself will hardly be able to stand amongst the United States, Russia and China as well. By being part of the European Union, the United Kingdom still has a chance of providing political, economic and social influence in the world.
