Ergo Proxy is a very good anime. It starts pretty slowly though. I liked it a lot and bought the entire series.

I thought it was boring, and not worth it at all...

The music is all really bad, which i thought hurt it quite a bit. It doesn't have one tune that's catchy at all. Except for that monk chanting, but the first time i heard that was in the opening for Medieval II: Total War.

The music might not matter so much if the dialogue wasn't so long and boring. I don't hate long dialogues in general--i love Ghost in the Shell, and that has plenty of long dialogue--but Ergo Proxy was sort of--not my kind of stuff.

the one protagonsit guy--i forgot his name--is really sort of annoying and angsty. Re-L is rather flat and boring, and her name's just weird. the sci-fi robot-human interaction stuff isn't very original, nor is it very entertaining. And the whole cyberpunk look to it, i dunno, it's sort of misleading. the atmostphere may be nice, but it's really slow and angsty in general.

The things I liked about it--the character design was pretty good, i mean the art and all--the characters themselves were not very relatable at all. And the intro video is pretty awesome. I guess that's the part of each episode I liked best.

If you really want to watch it, you'll have to be patient until around episode 10, where things start to pick up.

Pino was the best characterised/emotionialised andriod ever created.

Watching her humanity grow with the show was my favorite part.

Kinda depends on what you're looking for in an anime show. I thought Ergo Proxy was brilliant.

The show doesn't lay out the plot for you--you have to piece it together, fill in some of the blanks yourself. This particular director does this a lot with almost all of his shows. The characters were unique, well thought-out, and the dystopian society a perfect backdrop for an unraveling of controlled chaos. It's a really interesting look into the human psyche, motivations, and some really sweet fight scenes to flesh it out.

Again, everything isn't explained for you. If you don't like having to think for yourself in the context of understanding some of the backstory then I wouldn't suggest watching it, but I found it to be an amazing break from most of the mindless fighting anime shows with pre-pubescent girls in skirts. I'd say give it a chance considering that it's not a very long show.

I tried watching it. Got like 10 episodes in, and just gave it up. It was way to dull, I mean you'd watch a few episodes and then look back, and realise the plot didn't go anywhere, not like there was much of a plot in the first place.
